Kyle Farnsworth said Monday in Rays camp that he's fully recovered from last year's elbow problems. "I didn't do anything, just let it heal in time," the right-hander said. Farnsworth registered a cool 2.18 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 51/12 K/BB ratio over 57 2/3 innings in 2011 and should remain a steady fantasy closer in 2012.

Rays exercised Kyle Farnsworth's $3.3 million option for 2012. The price of the option was reasonable enough, so most expected the Rays would retain him. Farnsworth, 35, posted a 2.18 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 51/12 K/BB ratio over 57 2/3 innings this season while going 25-for-31 in save opportunities. He dealt with some elbow discomfort down the stretch, but should be considered the favorite for saves going into spring training.

The Rays are likely to exercise Kyle Farnsworth's $3.3 million option for next season. If they don't pick up the option, they'll have to pay Farnsworth a $650,000 buyout. The hard-throwing right-hander posted a 2.18 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 51/12 K/BB ratio in 57 2/3 innings during the regular season while converting 25 of 31 save chances. Those numbers make picking up the option seem like a no-brainer, but The Farns did deal with right elbow discomfort down the stretch. No structural damage was found, though, so he should be OK after a lengthy rest.

Kyle Farnsowrth (elbow) is available for Game 3. Farnsworth came down with a bit of soreness in his throwing elbow over the weekend, but he has rested now for several days straight and should be ready in a save situation.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said Kyle Farnsworth had a "little bit of a setback" with his elbow, but he expects the reliever to be available for Game 3. Farnsworth has dealt with soreness in his right elbow that's limited him to just four appearances over the last few weeks. It doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but Joel Peralta will be available for the ninth inning should the Rays deem The Farns unavailable.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said that Kyle Farnsworth (elbow) is "good to go" for Friday's game against the Blue Jays. In fact, Maddon said he could have pitched on Thursday night, if needed. Farnsworth hasn't pitched since September 10 due to a tender elbow, but should presumably return to ninth-inning duties. However, we would keep Joel Peralta around in deeper leagues, just to be on the safe side.

Kyle Farnsworth (elbow) made 65 throws at a distance of 90 feet on Tuesday. Farnsworth made it through the throwing session with no issues, so the next step is for him to throw from a mound on Wednesday. He is hoping to be ready to rejoin the Rays' bullpen by Thursday. Joel Peralta should continue to see save chances during his absence.

Kyle Farnsworth made 40 "nice and easy" throws from 60 feet Sunday. "Everything went well," Farnsworth said. The reliever wasn't sure what the next step is, but it will likely be a bullpen session. Farnsworth is hoping to be ready to rejoin the Rays bullpen by Thursday.
