Updating a previous note, Loney (finger) was activated from the DL on Thursday. Reports initially suggested Loney would be activated Friday, but the Rays went ahead and made the move Thursday afternoon. Preston Guilmet was sent down to Triple-A Durham to clear a roster spot.

Loney (finger) will come off the DL on Friday, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Loney made a rehab appearance Wednesday at High-A Charlotte, and after emerging without issue, the plan is for the first baseman to be back with the Rays beginning Friday. Tampa optioned Preston Guilmet back to Triple-A Durham to clear room on the roster.

Loney (finger) will get another start for High-A Charlotte on Wednesday and then he will be reevaluated, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports. He made his first rehab start Tuesday and said that his finger was feeling good after the game. The Rays could really use his presence again at first base, so he could be activated later this week.

Loney (finger) will start a rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte on Tuesday, serving as DH, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports. Loney will likely get a couple of starts at first base before rejoining the Rays, but prior reports suggested he could still be back this weekend. Tampa has gotten minimal production from its first basemen in Loney's absence, and he should return to a regular role.

Loney (finger) could start a short rehab assignment Tuesday and be on track to rejoin the Rays over the weekend, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Loney might have been the injured player the Rays were most hoping for an early return, considering how badly the Jake Elmore experiment has been going. It looks like they'll get their wish, but an early comeback always carries a risk of the player not being 100 percent and underperforming. If he is up to playing speed, that's even more good news for a team making a division title push despite several obstacles.

Loney (finger) is ahead of schedule and is on track to return before the All-Star break, manager Kevin Cash told Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times on Saturday. Loney landed on the DL with a broken finger in late May, but has progressed to taking grounders and dry swings this week. It appears he'll be back with the Rays some time in the next two weeks barring any setbacks. His return will likely limit at-bats and playing time Jake Elmore.

Loney (finger) is set to take ground balls on Monday and will take dry swings later this week, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports. Loney's continued progression is great news for the Rays as they continue to struggle to find a replacement at first. He was hitting .275 in 109 at bats before being sent to the disabled list and should be cleared at some point within the next couple of weeks to return.

Loney (finger) was cleared in to begin range-of-motion work after a three-week checkup, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. It's fair to say the Rays have been desperate for help at first base, pushing middle infielders Logan Forsythe and Jake Elmore to man the position in Loney's absence. That has led to Tampa Bay players at that position hitting a putrid .228/.291/.327 in June. Loney getting cleared indicates the severity of the injury was accurately gauged, so the four-to-six week timetable is probably decent to go off of.

Loney (finger) was placed on the 15-day DL on Monday with a broken finger, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Loney suffered the injury during Sunday's loss to the A's, but he finished the game, notching a pair of singles at the dish. Initially thought to be a sprain, further tests revealed the fracture, so Loney will head to the DL as Tim Beckham and Jake Elmore come up from Triple-A.

Loney suffered a sprained finger during Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Athletics, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Loney finished the game with a pair of singles in four at-bats, but the injury didn't force him to exit early. The Rays are hoping that the issue is something Loney can play through, but there remains a chance that he could be held out of the lineup Monday against the Mariners.
