Rodney threw a scoreless ninth inning in a non-save situation in Wednsday's win at Pittsburgh. He had two strikeouts but gave up two hits.
EDGE Analysis
Rodney entered the game with a four-run lead. It was an encouraging outing after he took the loss in his last outing by allowing a walk-off home run. Rodney looks set as Minnesota's closer, but he may have a shorter leash than last year in Arizona as setup man Addison Reed is capable of taking over closer duties.

Rodney took the loss after allowing one run on two hits while recording just two outs Thursday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Rodney got the Twins out of a jam in the 10th inning by getting Jonathan Schoop to ground into a double play, but Adam Jones ended things quickly the next inning with a walkoff solo homer on the first pitch. This is certainly not an ideal start to the season for the Twins' new closer, who was brought in on a one-year deal in the offseason. If his struggles continue, manager Paul Molitor may not take long to turn to Addison Reed, a more-than capable ninth-inning option who tossed a pair of scoreless innings Thursday.

Rodney gave up one run with two hits in an inning to take the loss in Thursday's spring training defeat to the Yankees. He has a 4.50 ERA but six strikeouts in six innings this spring. He's set to begin the season as Minnesota's closer.
EDGE Analysis
Despite giving up three runs in six innings, Rodney looks ready for the season with six strikeouts and no walks in six innings this spring. He'll try to repeat his success in Arizona last year where he had 39 saves in 45 changes with a 10.6 K/9. However, he may have a shorter leash with Minnesota as setup man Addison Reed is capable of taking over closer duties.

Rodney will serve as the Twins' closer at the start of the 2018 season, despite the fact that the team signed Addison Reed on Saturday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Few would argue that Rodney is a better reliever than Reed, but Rodney thrives off taking the ball in the ninth inning, whereas Reed has worked as a setup man for the majority of his career. That said, Rodney's leash in the closer role will likely be a bit shorter now that the Twins have another highly-capable high-leverage arm on board.

Rodney reached a one-year, $4.5 million deal with the Twins on Thursday, Craig Mish of SiriusXM reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rodney's deal offers incentives that could bring the value up to $6 million, as the 40-year-old will move on to his ninth different major-league team since breaking into the big leagues in 2005 with Detroit. During this past season with the Diamondbacks, Rodney posted a 4.23 ERA and collected 39 saves, which ranked in the top five of the MLB, and were his most since recording 48 in 2014. Moving forward, he will be the primary closer in Minnesota for this upcoming campaign, and could very well wind up earning a similar number of saves given the opportunity.

Rodney was credited with the win in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Marlins after tossing a scoreless ninth inning and striking out two batters.
EDGE Analysis
Rodney and relievers Andrew Chafin and Jimmie Sherfy combined for 2.1 no-hit innings before teammate J.D. Martinez supplied a walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Diamondbacks their 90th victory of the season. Arizona's winning ways have afforded Rodney ample opportunities throughout the campaign to close out games, with the veteran's 39 saves placing him fourth in the majors.

Rodney allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to notch his 39th save of the season in a 13-11 win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
He's now on the brink of his third career 40-save campaign, which would put him in elite company as Mariano Rivera is the only reliever in history to ring up 40 saves in a season after their 40th birthday. Rodney's 2.82 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB in 22.1 second-half innings have surprisingly made him one of baseball's most reliable closers down the stretch.

Rodney pitched a scoreless ninth inning to collect his 38th save of the season during Saturday's win over San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran has now converted 16 of 17 save opportunities in the second half, so while there have been a few hiccups over the course of the year, Rodney remains the go-to option in the ninth inning for the D-backs. His 4.50 ERA isn't paying the fantasy bills, but faithful fantasy owners have been rewarded with a respectable 1.19 WHIP and a rock-solid 10.2 K/9 to go along with his 38 saves.

Rodney struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to collect his 37th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty hadn't pitched since last Saturday's blown save -- his first since early July -- and the rest appeared to do Rodney a world of good. With the D-backs holding a five-game lead on the Rockies for the first wild-card spot in the NL and with the Dodgers having all but clinched the NL West, there's little incentive for the club to push its 40-year-old closer too hard down the stretch, so don't be surprised if he loses some save opportunities to other relievers.

Rodney was not used in the Diamondbacks' Sunday save situation because manager Torey Lovullo wanted to give him a day off, Jack Magruder of FanRagSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander just broke a streak of 15 straight save conversions with a Saturday gaffe, but Lovullo still considers Rodney his stopper. Bradley struck out the side to wrap up Sunday's victory but will resume his setup role when Rodney plays again.
