Rodney tossed a shutout ninth inning to earn his 27th save of the season in Monday's 2-0 victory over the Astros. He gave up one hit and struck out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Ace Zack Greinke did the heavy lifting for the Diamondbacks' pitching staff with 6.2 scoreless innings, but Rodney and two other Arizona relievers closed the door, allowing a combined two runners to reach base for the rest of the evening to seal the shutout victory. After back-to-back blown saves early in July, Rodney has rebounded nicely in converting six consecutive chances while posting a 15:3 K:BB and 2.00 ERA over his last 10 appearances.

Rodney gave up two runs on four hits in a non-save situation while failing to finish the ninth inning Saturday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
While this was not a save situation for Rodney, he created one for David Hernandez, who came in to get the final out for his first save of the season. Rodney is certainly not the model closer, and he is not the best reliever in the Diamondbacks' bullpen, but it's hard to envision this shaky outing in a non-save situation leading to any kind of role change. This performance snapped a streak of eight straight scoreless appearances.

Rodney struck out a pair and worked around a walk for his 26th save Tuesday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
That's now eight straight scoreless outings for Rodney since he got blown up for four runs by these same Dodgers back on July 6; in that span, he's struck out 14 batters while allowing just a single hit and three walks over 7.1 innings. Old though he may be at 40, Rodney is still throwing mid-90s heat, which has him well on his way to posting a five-year low in WHIP (currently 1.20; he hasn't been below 1.30 in the past four seasons), while his current 11.3 K/9 is a career high.

Rodney picked up his 25th save with a clean ninth inning Friday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Rodney has recovered well since blowing consecutive saves on July 2 and July 6. Since then, he has yet to allow a single run and has given up just one hit and two walks with 11 strikeouts over 6.1 innings. His inconsistency can be maddening at times, but this kind of hot streak really showcases the talent that has earned him the closer's role in Arizona.

Rodney pitched around two walks by striking out the side in a scoreless ninth inning to collect his 24th save of the season during Thursday's win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
While there have been a few implosions, and Rodney's 4.79 ERA is an eyesore, the veteran continues to pad the saves column. He's now fired six consecutive scoreless appearances and collected a win and three saves during that stretch, so Rodney remains a serviceable fantasy asset in all settings.

Rodney struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning against the Cubs on Wednesday to earn his 23rd save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Rodney has now compiled an impressive 1.82 ERA, 29 strikeouts and 17 saves over his last 24.2 innings dating back to the beginning of May, making him one of the most valuable fantasy closers over that period. He continues to lower his 4.93 ERA, while the-40-year-old's ability to strike batters out coupled with his consistent save opportunities make him a desirable fantasy option in all formats.

Rodney tossed a scoreless ninth inning in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Cardinals, working around a base hit to record three strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks haven't encountered a save situation in any of their first 13 games out of the All-Star break, which has prompted manager Torey Lovullo to keep Rodney on ice for the time being. Fortunately for fantasy owners, Rodney has at least been making some headway in lowering his ERA during his three appearances of the second half, tossing three scoreless innings and amassing six strikeouts.

Rodney (4-3) picked up the win Friday against the Nationals after firing a perfect ninth inning. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran closer sat down the side in 12 pitches (eight for strikes), helping him grab the win when Arizona walked off in the bottom half of the frame. Rodney's 5.23 ERA isn't the prettiest thing to look at, but this does mark his third straight scoreless appearance. With no reinforcements in sight and 22 saves on the season, it doesn't seem like Rodney is on the hot seat at this time.

Rodney tossed a perfect ninth inning in Thursday's 12-2 win over the Reds, striking out two batters.
EDGE Analysis
Though manager Torey Lovullo is often reluctant to use Rodney outside of save situations, the Diamondbacks haven't had any arise since the All-Star break, so the 40-year-old was called upon for mop-up duty as a means of getting some work in for the first time in nearly two weeks. Rodney only needed 11 pitches to retire the side, so he should remain available out of the bullpen for the next two games, barring heavy usage Friday against the Nationals. Rodney's 5.40 ERA and 1.29 WHIP make him far from a reliable closing option, but with 22 saves in 27 chances, he hasn't blown enough games for the Diamondbacks to ponder a change just yet.

Rodney collected a one-out save -- his 22nd of the season -- during Friday's win over Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Rodney allowed four runs without recording an out to blow a 4-1 lead Thursday against the Dodgers, which was also his second consecutive blown save. While he rebounded Friday, Rodney should probably continue to be viewed as a volatile relief option in all fantasy settings. However, he clearly has a long leash.
