Cabrera will start in centerfield in Monday's Grapefruit League game, MASN Sports reports. Cabrera has seen work mostly at shortstop and second base this spring, but the Orioles are considering him for a super utility role. If he makes the team, Cabrera in theory could play anywhere but pitcher and catcher. At the plate, he is 4-for-18 and was caught stealing in his only attempt this spring. The Orioles have very little speed, but it seems the team does not place much value on that. Cabrera would make sense as a late game replacement as a pinch runner, but he will have to beat out Ryan Flaherty and Jimmy Paredes for the last roster spot.

Cabrera is expected to play around the infield in early spring training, but will also get a look in the outfield later on, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. Cabrera has had a rocky offseason, and still faces issues with driving under the influence of marijuana, but is now focused on getting in some work with his new team. If Cabrera can show enough versatility, he should be able to nab a utility spot at the very least. General manager Dan Duquette also hinted that they plan to put him at a spot in the order which would allow him to get on base in front of the power hitters, indicating he could be batting near the top of the order or at the bottom.

The deal in place is valued at $2.4 million for one year with up to $600K in incentives. Cabrera will likely serve as a utility infielder during his stint in Baltimore, although there's a possibility that he could take over duties at second base from Jonathan Schoop. Without a clear spot in the starting lineup and potential time off the field looming, Cabrera is a risky option to invest in at this point in the preseason.

An All-Star in 2013, Cabrera still has ample speed and should have no problem latching on elsewhere on a major league deal, though a starting role may not be guaranteed.
