Everth Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Rockies. Cabrera went deep in the ninth inning off of LaTroy Hawkins, his second homer of the season, to knot the game up at six apiece. He also swiped his ninth bag. Cabrera isn't known for his power; he'll need to hit for a high average, steal bases, and play good defense to provide value to the Padres. He's slashing .249/.277/.343 thus far.

Everth Cabrera smacked a solo homer in Thursday's win over the Reds. The home run was his first since last May 25. It was just his fourth RBI on the year and his first April 27. Cabrera is off to a disappointing start this year following his PED suspension, but he has at least stolen three bases this month. He had just four in all of April.

Everth Cabrera was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup because he's with his wife after she gave birth. It's not clear at this point if the Padres will place Cabrera on the paternity leave list. With an off day coming Monday, they might not need to. Alexi Amarista is at shortstop Sunday in Cabrera's place.

Padres manager Bud Black said Saturday that a right knee injury earlier this month has been "a little bit of a factor" in why Everth Cabrera has just two stolen bases this season. Cabrera tweaked the knee on April 14 and has attempted just one steal since then (and it was unsuccessful). Black also noted that pitchers have been paying more attention to Cabrera this season. "Last year sort of put him on the map, as far as recognition," Black said. "He's off to a nice start this year. I think it takes time for most players to get national recognition. I think he's started to get that."

Everth Cabrera went 3-for-5 with three singles Friday against the Nationals. Cabrera is hitting .313 (30-for-96) through 23 games this season, which is encouraging to see after 2013 season came to an early end after a 50-game PED suspension, but he has been pretty quiet on the basepaths thus far. He's just 2-for-5 in stolen base attempts.

Everth Cabrera (knee) went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the Padres' win over the Rockies on Wednesday. Cabrera was a late scratch from Tuesday's game with a sore right knee. It was never a major concern. The speedy shortstop is batting .333 with two stolen bases.

Everth Cabrera was a late scratch from the Padres' lineup Tuesday due to a sore right knee. It's not clear how Cabrera hurt the knee or how long he might be sidelined. The Padres should provide an update on his status after the game. Alexi Amarista took Cabrera's spot at shortstop.

Everth Cabrera went 2-for-3 with two singles against the White Sox on Wednesday. Cabrera bumped his spring average up to .364 with the effort. He hit .283 last year with 37 stolen bases before serving a suspension for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal. With a full season, he could get back over 40 steals. 50 wouldn't be shocking, either.
