Cabrera (foot) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports. The X-ray on Cabrera's foot came back negative, but with J.J. Hardy (shoulder) coming off the disabled list, Baltimore needed to free up a roster spot. Hardy's return figured to leave Cabrera with very few at-bats, so the impact of the bruised foot is minimal for both fantasy owners and the Orioles.

Cabrera is getting an X-ray on his foot, and he may be placed on the disabled list, MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli reports. With J.J. Hardy (shoulder) coming off the disabled list, the Orioles need to make a roster decision before Thursday's game against the Yankees. Cabrera was hit by a pitch during Wednesday's game, and even if he isn't involved in the roster move, he's going to lose most of his playing time to Hardy.

Cabrera led off for the Orioles on Sunday and went 2-for-6 with a pair of runs scored against the Red Sox. Cabrera has been the everyday shortstop for the club with Ryan Flaherty on the disabled list, but has been rather unimpressive thus far, hitting .234 with just five runs scored and two stolen bases. Starting shortstop J.J. Hardy is set to begin a rehab assignment next week as he returns from a shoulder injury, so Cabrera's run of consistent playing time appears to be nearing its end.

Cabrera will start at shortstop and bat ninth Wednesday against the Blue Jays, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports. Cabrera has been atop the order the last two times the Orioles have faced left-handers, and he even led off against a right-hander on Sunday, but it looks like he will hit primarily near the bottom of the order against right-handers for now. Alejandro De Aza will return to the leadoff spot Wednesday. Upon J.J. Hardy's eventual return from a shoulder injury, Cabrera figures to push into a role at second base.

Cabrera went 1-for-3 and stole his first base of the season in Friday's loss to the Red Sox. The speedy Cabrera looked like he nearly separated his shoulder on an awkward dive into second base, but he was fine and remained in the game. Cabrera has made the lion's share of starts at shortstop with J.J. Hardy out, but it took him longer than expected to get his first steal. Cabrera is 8-for-29 on the season, but he does not have an extra-base hit. In lighter news, Cabrera has been cleared to travel to Canada for games against the Blue Jays, MASN Sports reports. It was not a foregone conclusion that Canada would let him in due to pending legal troubles for arrests last year on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana and resisting arrest.

Cabrera will start at shortstop and bat leadoff Tuesday against the Yankees, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports. Cabrera will slot in atop the order for the second time this season, pushing Alejandro De Aza to the nine-hole. It marks Cabrera's fifth straight start, and while his opportunities will likely take a hit upon J.J. Hardy's return from a shoulder injury, Cabrera may then push Jonathan Schoop for playing time at second.

Cabrera is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Friday against the Blue Jays. With J.J. Hardy (shoulder) on the disabled list, Cabrera has been splitting time with Ryan Flaherty and Jonathan Schoop at the middle-infield spots. Hardy should be available by the end of next week, at which point Cabrera, Flaherty and Schoop will mostly be limited to handling the keystone.

Cabrera is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Tuesday in Tampa Bay, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports. Ryan Flaherty will start at second base after hitting a home run on Opening Day, forcing Jonathan Schoop to the bench. Cabrera was expected to get most of the playing time at shortstop in J.J. Hardy's (elbow) absence, but it now appears Hardy will be ready by Saturday.

Cabrera is not in Baltimore's Opening Day lineup, according to MASN Sports. Ryan Flaherty got the start at shortstop due to his 4-for-9 career batting line against Rays starter Chris Archer. Cabrera is still expected to get the larger load of at-bats which J.J. Hardy is on the shelf. Hardy could miss a large chunk of the month of April.

Cabrera looks like he will start the season as Baltimore's shortstop with J.J. hardy likely to begin the season on the disabled list, MASN Sports reports. Hardy is almost certainly ruled out for Opening Day at this point and he could miss a good chunk of April with a shoulder injury. It is between Cabrera and Ryan Flaherty for the Opening Day job, but it looks like the Orioles are leaning toward Cabrera. Hardy figures to miss at least the first week of the season. Cabrera singled three times in Monday's game, but he has attempted just two steals this spring in 46 at-bats. If Cabrera is the starter, he could be the leadoff hitter or hit at the bottom of the order.
