O'Flaherty (0-2) has two holds and a blown save with a 4.70 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 7.2 innings over 15 appearances this season.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw has actually improved, allowing only one run over his last 6.1 innings, but he's still struggled, especially against right-handed hitters. Right-handers are 4-for-10 (.400) against O'Flaherty this season. He posted a batting average against of .415 versus righties last year with the Mets.

O'Flaherty was traded to the Braves on Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear what the Pirates will receive in return in the deal, but because O'Flaherty was a non-roster invitee who was uncertain to make the Pirates out of spring training, the Braves will probably only have to shell out minor cash considerations. O'Flaherty, who previously pitched for the Braves to great success from 2009 through 2013, will look to get his career back on track after generally struggling during stops with the Athletics and Mets since working his way back from May 2013 Tommy John surgery.

O'Flaherty signed a minor league contract with the Pirates on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
O'Flaherty had a rough season last year with an 8.10 ERA in 30 innings pitched, but from 2010 to 2014, the left-hander was one of the better southpaws in baseball. There aren't a lot of lefties beyond Tony Watson in the Pirates bullpen at the moment, so he stands a good chance of getting a bullpen spot if he can return to his dominant form from when he was with Atlanta.

O'Flaherty struggled on Friday night, allowing four hits and two earned runs over 1.1 innings. O'Flaherty has had a terrible season and his ERA now stands at 9.00 on the season over 11 innings. This was his fourth appearance since returning off the DL with a shoulder injury. O'Flaherty has a history of effective relief work, but currently is having a significant issue getting outs.

O'Flaherty (shoulder) was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. Having completed his brief rehab assignment, O'Flaherty will join Fernando Abad as the only healthy lefties in Oakland's bullpen. That could lead to the occasional save opportunity, but O'Flaherty will probably be a better source of holds. While he's thrown just 45 innings since the beginning of 2013, the veteran lefty has mostly remained effective when healthy, with April of this season being the exception.

O'Flaherty (shoulder) could return from the DL as soon as Tuesday's series opener against the Tigers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. O'Flaherty made rehab appearances with High-A Stockton and Triple-A Nashville over the past week, tossing two scoreless innings. It doesn't appear he's suffered any negative effects as a result of those outings, so he'll likely be quickly plugged back in as one of manager Bob Melvin's top lefty arms out of the bullpen.

O'Flaherty (shoulder) will make a rehab appearance with High-A Stockton on Saturday, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports. It's expected to be O'Flaherty's final rehab appearance before rejoining the major league club. The 30-year-old lefty gave up two hits in his outing with Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, but still managed to make it through the inning with just 14 pitches.

O'Flaherty (shoulder) began his rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. He gave up two hits during a scoreless inning of relief. The Athletics will likely have O'Flaherty one or two more times for Nashville before returning from the DL. O'Flaherty was 0-2 with an 11.57 ERA and 7:5 K:BB ratio over seven innings prior to being diagnosed with a shoulder strain.

O'Flaherty (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Monday and is expected to head out on a rehab assignment this week, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. O'Flaherty is on the DL with shoulder soreness but shouldn't be out much longer. He'll likely need only a handful of rehab appearances before returning to the Oakland bullpen.

O'Flaherty (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Monday, John Hickey of the Oakland Tribune reports. O'Flaherty was placed on the 15-day DL in early May with a shoulder strain, but received a dose of good news in that an earlier MRI revealed no structural damage. He may only need to throw a couple of bullpen sessions before the Athletics feel comfortable sending him out on a rehab assignment.
