Gee (5-6) struck out seven Twins over seven innings while allowing just one run on five hits and a walk in Thursday's 8-1 win.
EDGE Analysis
Just last week, Gee saw these same Twins in Minnesota and was blasted for five runs on 11 hits (three of them homers), so this was an impressive turnaround. That said, Gee has been simply atrocious when given opportunities to start this year -- in 52.1 innings, he's given up a brutal 33 earned runs for a 5.68 ERA. He's generally been much more effective out of the bullpen (3.05 ERA), but will remain in the rotation for now, with his next start coming Wednesday against the Marlins.

Gee will start Saturday against the Twins, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gee has struggled as a starter this season, having gone 2-5 with a 6.08 ERA over eight outings. Saturday's matchup isn't favorable for Gee, as he's allowed six runs (including three home runs) over just six innings against the Twins in 2016.

Gee will be skipped next time through the Royals' rotation, according to Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio.
EDGE Analysis
Gee tossed six innings in each of his last two starts, but the Royals have an off day Monday, and the team decided to take advantage of that and keep the rest of their starters on normal rest. The Royals will next need a fifth starter August 13, and Gee could still fill that spot if the team believes Mike Minor (shoulder) is not yet ready to join the big league rotation.

Gee (3-5) pitched six innings, allowing three runs, four hits and four walks while striking out two Blue Jays in Friday's no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Gee hadn't lasted six innings in any of his first six starts, but his second straight six-inning outing Friday earned the righty his first quality start since April of last season. Although taming the Blue Jays is impressive, Gee is still winless since May 31 and remains best suited for deep leagues. The 30-year-old's next start is Thursday against a White Sox team that he beat back on May 20 for his first win of the season.

Gee (3-5) allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four over six innings to take the loss Sunday at the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Gee gave up a pair of two-run homers in the first and fourth innings, and the Royals' offense was never able to recover, leading to his fifth loss of 2016. He's now allowed 14 earned runs in his last 20 innings over four starts to raise his ERA to 4.66 on the year. He'll make his next start Friday against the Blue Jays.

Gee (3-4) allowed five runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out one over five innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Gee gave up a pair of runs in both the fourth and sixth innings, and he left the contest with a 5-0 deficit. He's now allowed 30 baserunners in 16.1 innings of work over four July outings, and his ERA is at a season-high 4.54. He'll make his next start Sunday at the Rangers.

Gee has been confirmed as the starter for Tuesday's game against the Angels, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Ned Yost had been undecided about Tuesday's starter, but he confirmed Monday afternoon that it will, indeed, be Gee. That means the Royals will pivot away from Brian Flynn, who was touched up for three earned runs in just 2.1 innings his last time out. Gee pitched 5.1 innings of relief in that contest, so the belief is that he'll be stretched out enough to be an effective option.

Manager Ned Yost is yet to decide on a starter for Tuesday's game against the Angels, but Gee may be the primary option, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Royals appear to be leaning away from Brian Flynn, who was tagged for three earned runs in just 2.1 innings in his last start Tuesday against the Indians. In that game, Gee came on in relief and tossed 5.1 innings, striking out five and allowing three earned runs on six hits. Considering he's already stretched out, Gee seems like the most practical option Tuesday, though an official announcement may not come for another day or two.

Gee lasted just 3.2 innings in Sunday's start versus the Mariners, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk. He suffered his third loss of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Gee had worked primarily as a reliever this season, and although he was selected to take the struggling Chris Young's place in the rotation, he was unable to produce results. Gee has been more effective in relief this season, with an ERA of 2.90 out of the bullpen, and he will likely return to that role after the All-Star break.

Gee, who has been working in long relief for the Royals since being recalled June 11, is a candidate to replace Chris Young in the rotation for Sunday's start against Seattle, the Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Royals have not revealed their plans for Sunday, but Young's ongoing struggles have left the team in a difficult spot, as the organizational depth reinforcements-- Kris Medlen and Mike Minor -- are working back from injury. An official announcement from manager Ned Yost will likely come down ahead of the weekend series with Seattle, but Gee has been a much better fit as a reliever (2.91 ERA, .765 OPS against) than he was during his four-start run as a starter (6.05 ERA, .985 OPS against) for the Royals earlier this season.
