Gee was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Injuries to the Royals' rotation ultimately forced Gee to fill in as a spot starter over the last few weeks. He managed to rack up 26 strikeouts in 24.2 innings over five starts, but he also had an earned run average of 5.11 in that stretch. His next turn in the rotation, which was scheduled for Sunday, will now likely be taken by Chris Young (forearm) once he's activated off the DL.

Gee (2-2) pitched five innings, allowing four runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out seven in Tuesday's win over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
It hasn't always been pretty for the righty, who now has five starts under his belt, but Gee is managing to put his team (and himself) in a position to win ballgames. His seven strikeouts on Tuesday was a season high, and he has a respectable 26:7 K:BB since joining the starting rotation. He'll go at it again in Cleveland on Sunday.

Gee (1-2) allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits, struck out six and walked one over just four innings in a loss to the Twins Wednesday afternoon.
EDGE Analysis
Making his third start of the year, Gee really struggled, giving up two home runs to the first two batters of the game. He worked into the fifth, but yielded another bomb on the last pitch he threw and didn't record an out in the frame. The Twins had multiple base runners against Gee in four of the five innings he worked. He will try and correct these mistakes before his next scheduled start Monday against the Rays.

Gee (1-1) surrendered four hits, an earned run and a walk over five innings in Friday's 4-1 victory over the White Sox. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Faced with the tough prospect of outdueling White Sox stalwart Jose Quintana, the 30-year-old came through with an outstanding effort over 92 pitches. Gee put 62 of those offerings in the strike zone, while also securing first-pitch strikes on 15 of the 22 batters he faced. His only hiccup was a second-inning RBI single he surrendered to Austin Jackson, marking the second time in his three starts that Gee has only surrendered an earned run.

Gee (0-1) lost his first start of 2016, allowing three runs on six hits over 5.1 innings against the Braves. He also struck out five and walked three.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old has appeared in seven other games as a reliever although he did pitch 5.1 in his last appearance after Chris Young was ineffective against the Yankees. With the help of a double play and caught stealing, Gee was able to hold the Braves off the scoreboard through five innings, but he allowed five of the six batters he faced in the sixth to reach base. The only out he recorded in that frame was on a sacrifice bunt. Gee, who is replacing the injured Young in the rotation, is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the White Sox.

Gee will start Saturday's game against the Braves, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following another ineffective outing by Chris Young on Monday that raised his ERA to 6.68, Gee provided 5.1 solid innings of relief, allowing just one run on three hits. It's unclear if manager Ned Yost is making a permanent switch, but it would appear Gee could slot in as a regular member of the rotation with a strong showing against Atlanta.

Gee went 5.1 innings in relief on Monday, allowing just one run on three hits while walking one and striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Gee has been very solid out of the Royals' bullpen this season, registering a 2.61 ERA. If the Royals decide that either Kris Medlen or Chris Young isn't getting the job done as a starter, Gee would be a logical choice to replace him in the rotation.

Gee was reinstated from the paternity list Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Gee will return to the club Thursday after being placed on the paternity list earlier in the week. The Royals optioned Miguel Almonte to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move to add Gee back to the active roster. In two relief appearances this season, Gee has allowed one run on four hits across 5.0 innings of work.

Gee was placed on the paternity list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gee's daughter was born Monday, so he'll be away from the team for a few days to tend to matters on the home front. To take his place on the roster, right-hander Miguel Almonte was recalled from Triple-A Omaha.

Gee is likely to make the Opening Day roster as a bullpen swingman if he is not needed in the rotation, the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gee and Chien-Ming Wang are said to have a shot at the starting rotation, but that seems doubtful with Chris Young and Kris Medlen in the lead for the final two rotation spots. It looks like Gee will make the team as a swingman in the bullpen who could an occasional spot start.
