Wright (neck) will undergo surgery Thursday and is expected to miss several months, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran had initially hoped that rest and rehab would be enough to alleviate the issues in his neck and back, but he'll now opt for surgery, which will likely keep him out for at least three months, possibly threatening the rest of his 2016 season. "After trying every way to get back on the field, I've come to realize that it's best for me, my teammates and the organization to proceed with surgery at this time," Wright said in a statement Thursday. "My neck simply did not respond to any of the treatments of the past few weeks. While incredibly frustrating and disappointing, I am determined to make a full recovery and get back on the field as soon as I can to help the Mets win."

Wright (neck) will meet with team doctors this week to discuss whether the veteran third baseman will require surgery, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although DiComo reports that Wright would likely opt to stick with rehabbing the injury rather than going the surgical route, Wright will nonetheless meet with doctors to determine if surgery is the best option. He was shut down for 6-to-8 weeks when he was placed on the DL on June 3, which means he'd be out until late July or early August in the best case scenario. If surgery ends up being the course of action, it would stretch out that timetable by a significant amount in all likelihood.

The Mets placed Wright (neck) on the disabled list Friday and announced he will rest for 6-to-8 weeks before resuming baseball activities, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported earlier Friday that Wright would be sidelined for at least a month, but the latest update -- which comes straight from the team -- all but rules him out for at least two months, as Wright will need to get back into playing shape once his neck injury has subsided. The best-case scenario has Wright returning to action sometime in early August, but it's certainly possible he could be out several weeks beyond that. The Mets will fill Wright's spot with the combination of Wilmer Flores, Ty Kelly, and Matt Reynolds for now, but it remains to be seen how things will shake out at the hot corner long term.

Wright (neck) is expected to be out at least 4-to-6 weeks, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported Thursday that Wright was facing an extended absence, and the timeline for his return is starting to come into focus. If everything goes well with his recovery he could return around the beginning of July, but with the All-Star break coming just a week after that, it's possible he may not be back until sometime during the season's second half.

Wright (neck) is expected to be out for an extended period, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
He seemed worse off than day-to-day after being diagnosed with herniated disk in his neck, and it now sounds like a DL stint is imminent for Wright. Matt Reynolds is on his way to join the big club in Miami. The Mets are expected to make an official announcement regarding Wright's status either Thursday night or Friday morning.

Wright (neck) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN.com.
EDGE Analysis
Wright will sit out for the fifth straight day as he battles a herniated disc in his neck, and Ty Kelly will man the hot corner for the Mets on Wednesday. Manager Terry Collins hinted earlier this week that Wright could land on the disabled list if his health did not improve, and the possibility of that occurring increases each day he sits out.

Wright (neck) is not in the Mets' lineup Tuesday against the White Sox, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright was diagnosed Monday with a herniated disc in his neck, and at this point it seems likely that a DL stint could be in the veteran's future. The Mets have not announced their intentions yet, however, and the team appears content to wait a bit longer to make a decision. Wilmer Flores will get the start at third base Tuesday, and he'll bat seventh in the order.

Wright is dealing with a herniated disk in his neck, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The recent ailment has already cost Wright several starts, and it's now looking more and more like a stint on the DL will be necessary. Wright will continue to undergo tests, and expects a clearer diagnosis to be available Tuesday. Given the current outlook, however, the Mets could easily elect to get ahead of the situation and send him to the DL at any point.

Manager Terry Collins is concerned that Wright (neck) could need a stint on the disabled list, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright has been sidelined several times over the last couple weeks by his sore neck, and with him not showing much improvement -- he will sit out Monday for the third day in a row -- the Mets may ultimately decide to deactivate him for a couple weeks to give him ample time to recover without taking up a roster spot. If Wright does land on the disabled list, Wilmer Flores, Ty Kelly, and Eric Campbell would all be candidates to see action in his place.

Wright (neck) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported Sunday that Wright's sore neck would sideline him at least until Tuesday, and it turns out that will indeed be the case. Ty Kelly will man the hot corner Monday afternoon in Wright's place.
