Ross (heel) is expected to start catching bullpen sessions this weekend, CSN New England reports. Manager John Farrell is confident his re-entry to the lineup will speed up pretty quickly after that. He's expected to go out on a short rehab assignment, but when that happens has yet to be determined.

Ross (heel) is progressing well from his plantar fasciitis, and the Red Sox feel he could be sent out on a rehab assignment sometime in the next 10 days, the Providence Journal reports. Manager John Farrell said it "still seems to be a realistic possibility" that Ross will be activated when eligible to return from the disabled list Aug. 17. In the meantime, Boston is going with two rookie catchers, Christian Vazquez and Dan Butler.

Ross (heel) shed his walking boot, the Boston Herald reports. He's hoping to be activated when eligible to come off the disabled list Aug. 17. Ross is traveling with Boston on its eight-game, nine-day road trip for the dual purposes of receiving treatment and assisting rookie catchers Christian Vazquez and Dan Butler.

David Ross has been dealing with a right foot ailment for most of the season that the Red Sox believe is plantar fasciitis. Ross was noticeably hobbled while running the bases Tuesday, but the catcher doesn't think the injury will sideline him. "It's not going to keep me from playing, I don't think," Ross said. "It's one of those things that's going to affect my running a little bit, which is definitely not something manager John (Farrell) is worrying about, my speed to help the team."

David Ross is available off the bench after rolling his ankle during batting practice. Ross limped off the field in obvious pain, but he'll be fine. A.J. Pierzynski is behind the plate for the Red Sox Tuesday.

David Ross was injured during batting practice Tuesday when he appeared to foul a ball off his foot. Ross immediately limped off the field and into the clubhouse, so it's obvious he was in plenty of pain. The Red Sox haven't updated his status, but they could wind up sending him for X-rays.

David Ross went 1-for-4 with a solo home run as the Red Sox were defeated by the Orioles on Monday. Ross got the day game start as A.J. Pierzynski started Sunday night's game. Ross took Zach Britton deep in the seventh inning, part of many attempts by the Red Sox to get back in the game late.

David Ross will be held out of action until Friday due to inflammation in a tendon in his left foot. Ross underwent an MRI on Tuesday that showed only the inflammation and no major structural damage. He'll still have ample time left to get properly tuned up for Opening Day once he's cleared to return to action.

David Ross is expected to start at catcher in Game 6 of the World Series on Wednesday night. Jarrod Saltalamacchia started Games 2 and 3, but his bat has looked slow and he's made some bad throws. So it'll be Ross catching John Lackey on Wednesday in Boston.

David Ross is expected to get another start in Game 5 of the World Series on Monday in St. Louis. Ross got the nod in Game 4 over Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who has struggled on both offense and defense in the 2013 World Series. "[Ross is] ready to go [Monday], and likely will be back there as he's paired up with Jon Lester," Red Sox manager John Farrell said late Sunday. "Good game caller, as he's always been known for. Very good at framing pitches. And ran a very good game once again tonight."
