David Ross will start behind the plate in Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday. Ross is getting the nod over Jarrod Saltalamacchia with Jon Lester on the hill for Boston. While Ross and Lester have worked well together, Saltalamacchia's bat could be missed with right-hander Adam Wainwright starting for St. Louis.

David Ross is expected to serve as the Red Sox starting catcher in Game 2 of the ALDS on Saturday. It comes as no surprise as Ross has made a living by crushing left-handed pitching, and is 2-for-5 with a pair of homers in his career off Rays hurler David Price.

He's had a very disappointing season, slashing just .216/.298/.382 with four homers and 10 RBI in 36 games.

David Ross (concussion) is in line to be activated next Monday. Ross has moved his rehab assignment up to Triple-A Pawtucket after a couple games with Double-A Portland. "He will catch hopefully five to six innings tonight with Pawtucket, get three at-bats," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "Likely DH tomorrow. And then as he gets back behind the plate, there will be increased number of innings caught, to the point of catching back-to-back games, by the end of the week."
