Murphy (oblique) took 40 swings Saturday and will continue to increase his effort in the coming days, MLB.com reports. Murphy's still looking at a mid-September return in all likelihood but that appears to be on track for now barring any setbacks.

Murphy (abdomen) has resumed some core exercises, MLB.com reports. Sidelined with a right oblique strain, Murphy is expected to miss at least three more weeks. Ryan Raburn, Tyler Holt and Chris Dickerson will continue to fill the void in right field.

Murphy was diagnosed with a right oblique strain, which will keep him sidelined 4-to-5 weeks, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. Initially deemed a abdominal strain, an MRI revealed that Murphy was instead suffering from an oblique injury. The expected timetable calls for a return in early to mid-September, but a recovering oblique can be unpredictable. In the meantime, a combination of Ryan Raburn, Tyler Holt, and Chris Dickerson will help cover right field.

Murphy (abdomen) was placed on the disabled list Sunday. Murphy suffered the abdominal strain in Saturday's game and had to leave in the top of the sixth inning. The injury appears to be severe enough to move Murphy to the disabled list, who will join Nick Swisher as the two players placed on the DL Sunday. Nick Walters and Tyler Holt were recalled to replace them on the active roster.

Murphy will have an MRI on his right side Sunday to clarify the extent of the injury he suffered Saturday, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports. Murphy left after the top of the sixth inning Saturday with the injury and appears unlikely for Sunday's game as well. The MRI should help set a timetable for his return to the lineup.

David Murphy reached base in all four of his plate appearances and drove home a pair of runs, leading the Indians to a 6-2 victory over the Tigers in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. He finished the day 2-for-2 plus a pair of walks, and he also scored a run. The veteran outfielder is now hitting .247/.311/.368 with six homers and 46 RBI in his first 89 games on the season.

David Murphy launched a two-run home run Friday against the White Sox. It was his first home run since way back on May 21. After joining the Indians on a two-year, $12 million contract over the winter, Murphy got off to a nice start with his new club, but he has seen his batting average drop over 50 points (from .284 to .243) over the past month.

David Murphy went 0-for-3 with a walk on Friday and is in a 1-for-36 slump. Murphy got off to a nice start for the Indians, but he's now gone more than a month without a homer and his average has fallen under .250. The Indians have been patient thus far, but they'll eventually have to explore alternatives (Tyler Holt?) if this keeps up.

David Murphy hit a game-tying, two-run homer in the ninth inning of Wednesday's win over the Tigers. Murphy followed Michael Brantley's one-out single with a drive to right field that cleared the wall. The Indians eventually won in bizarre fashion on a balk with the bases loaded in the 13th. Murphy also had a sac fly and an RBI double earlier in the game, giving him four RBI for the day and 30 for the season. He sports an impressive .294/.360/.483 batting line for the season.

David Murphy went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Tigers. Murphy took Evan Reed out to right field for his fourth home run of the season. The Indians' signing of Murphy during the off-season has worked out well, as the outfielder now sports a .292/.364/.460 with a vast majority of the damage being done against right-handed pitching.
