Hernandez and the Giants agreed to terms on a minor league contract Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
After spending 2015 with Arizona and 2016 with Philadelphia, Hernandez will now join his third club in as many seasons. The right-hander will attempt to make the Giants' roster out of spring training, but it's possible that he could begin the year at the Triple-A level. Last season, Hernandez posted a 3.84 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 70 relief appearances (72.2 innings).

Hernandez became a free agent Thursday, Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez was signed to a one-year deal by the Phillies last offseason. He was 3-4 with a 3.84 ERA and an 80:32 K:BB in 72.2 innings. He will likely be looking for a multi-year contract this winter.

Hernandez tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 4-3 win over the Marlins. He allowed two hits and struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Friday's outing dropped Hernandez's ERA below 4.00 for the first time since mid-June. He has been pitching fairly well since the start of July, going 2-1 with a 3.21 ERA and a 26:14 K:BB in 28 innings.

Hernandez picked up his 14th hold of the season in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Rockies. He allowed one run on three hits over 1.2 innings with two strikeouts and a walk.
EDGE Analysis
The run allowed came on a solo home run by Charlie Blackmon. It was the third home run Hernandez has given up in his last two appearances. Since the beginning of June, Hernandez is 1-2 with a 5.81 ERA and a 30:17 K:BB in 31 innings.

Hernandez (1-3) gave up the go-ahead run and took the loss Tuesday against the Marlins after entering the game tied in the 10th inning following a scoreless ninth by closer Jeanmar Gomez.
EDGE Analysis
With trade rumors surrounding current closer Jeanmar Gomez, Hernandez's didn't do himself any favors Tuesday in vying for a potential Phillies closer role should Gomez in fact get traded before the deadline. His 4.43 ERA and 1.46 WHIP are less than stellar, although teammate Hector Neris is just 1-for-3 in save opportunities this season despite a superior 2.70 ERA.

Hernandez allowed one hit in a scoreless inning of relief in Sunday's 10-3 win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez has three straight scoreless appearances after going through an eight game stretch where he allowed 13 runs on 18 hits. His 4.50 ERA doesn't look great, but he has been a solid contributor most of the season thanks to his 13 holds and 52 strikeouts in 42 innings of work.

Hernandez picked up his second loss of the season Wednesday after allowing one run on two hits in an inning of relief.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez has allowed runs in each of his last four appearances raising his ERA to 4.41. He's allowed two home runs, struck out five, walked four and threw two wild pitches during those last four outings. He's been very good overall this season, but might deserve to be benched until he comes out of this rough patch.

Hernandez allowed four runs on five hits, including two home runs, in an inning of work Thursday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez came into the game with the Phillies already down by eight runs. Perhaps he did not have his typical focus and intensity given the situation. He's been very good overall this season, and is one of the stronger trade chips the Phillies have leading up to next month's trade deadline.

Hernandez gave up two hits, but struck out the side in a scoreless inning to pick up a hold in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The dominant middle-relief duo of Hernandez and Hector Neris recorded all six of their outs via strikeout, forming an excellent bridge to closer Jeanmar Gomez, who claimed his 15th save of the season in the ninth inning. Though Gomez seems to enjoy decent security in his role, Hernandez still makes for an appealing roster option in deep or NL-only leagues due to his prolific strikeout rate. Hernandez's 13.5 K/9 rate is the highest among any pitcher in baseball who has covered at least 18 innings.

Hernandez allowed one run on two hits and a walk but nailed down his first save of the season in a 4-3 victory against the Reds on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
With closer Jeanmar Gomez and Hector Neris unavailable due to rest, manager Pete Mackanin called upon Hernandez with a two-run lead in the ninth. The first three batters reached on a walk, single and double, which pulled the Reds within one. Hernandez induced a ground out and fly out against the next two batters, and Phillies outfielder Tyler Goeddel cut down Eugenio Suarez, who was trying to score on a sacrifice fly attempt, at home to end the game. Hernandez has one save and eight holds with one blown save this season.
