Hernandez picked up his first win of the season Friday with two scoreless innings against the Indians. He struck out four and did not allow a hit or a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez got off to a shaky start to the season, but has really turned things around of late. He has a 3.97 ERA and a 20:5 K:BB ratio in 11.1 innings. Hector Neris is probably next in line for save chances if Jeanmar Gomez falters, but Hernandez is right behind him in the pecking order.

Hernandez allowed two runs on two solo home runs in an inning of work Monday in the Phillies' loss to the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
The homers from Lucas Duda and Neil Walker broke a streak of six scoreless innings for Hernandez. He's had a couple of blow ups this season which have left him with a 7.11 ERA, but he also has an 11:4 K:BB in 6.2 innings.

Hernandez picked up a hold with a clean inning of work Wednesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Pete Mackanin sent Hernandez out to work the eighth inning for the second straight game Wednesday. He hit 94 mph with his fastball and eight of his 12 pitches were strikes. Hernandez could still work his way into closing duties for the Phillies and is worth stashing if you are hunting for potential saves.

Hernandez allowed three runs on two walks and hit after being brought in to protect a one run lead in the eighth inning Monday. He did not record an out before being lifted from the game.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez did not help his chances of earning future save opportunities with Monday's performance. He struggled to locate and his velocity was down. Hernandez told Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia that he is healthy, but it is fair to wonder if that is truly the case. He missed time this spring with triceps tendinitis. Dalier Hinojosa looks like the best bet for save chances in Philly at the moment.

Hernandez may be re-emerging as the top candidate to close for the Phillies, Ryan Lawrence of the Philly Voice reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Pete Mackanin said Monday that he is still trying to figure out "the best way to go" with his closing situation. He also said he won't name a closer until he is 100 percent sure about putting someone in that role. That could lead to the Phillies opening the year with a committee. Hernandez and Dalier Hinojosa look like the top two choices to close at the moment. Andrew Bailey, who was once considered the front runner for the job, might now be looking at a trip to Triple-A at the start of the season.

Hernandez said he felt good after throwing an inning in a Grapefruit League game Monday, CSN Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez allowed a double and a triple in his inning of work as he struggled with his fastball command. He is on track to open the regular season on the active roster, but it remains to be seen if he will be the closer or if the Phillies will go with Andrew Bailey.

Hernandez pitched a scoreless inning in a minor league game Friday, the Wilmington News Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez struck out two and sat between 92-94 mph with his fastball. It was originally reported that he would pitch in a Grapefruit League game Saturday, but those plans have apparently changed. He said after Friday's appearance that there is no discomfort in his triceps when pitching, but he does have a little stiffness when cooling down. He seems to be on track in his recovery from triceps tendinitis.

Hernandez is scheduled to pitch in a Grapefruit League game Saturday, the PhillyVoice reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez pitched one inning in a minor league game earlier this week as he works his way back from triceps tendinitis. The injury may have cost Hernandez his shot at opening the year as the Phillies' closer. Pitching coach Bob McClure said he is leaning toward Andrew Bailey as the choice for closing duties. Manager Pete Mackanin has yet to settle on a closer, however, so Hernandez may have time yet to earn the job.

Hernandez (triceps) pitched one inning in a minor league game Tuesday, CSN Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez allowed three runs on three hits and walk while also striking out two. The results were poor, but Hernandez was happy just to be back in action. He said after that he didn't feel any of the soreness in his triceps while throwing. He expects to be ready for Opening Day and remains the favorite to close for the Phillies.
