Gentry will start in left field and serve as the Orioles' leadoff hitter for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Orioles placing Joey Rickard (finger) on the 10-day disabled list earlier Sunday, Gentry looks primed to see regular at-bats and lead off against left-handed starters for at least the next week and a half while working as a platoon partner for either Hyun-Soo Kim or Seth Smith. The 33-year-old has shown little power over the course of his career, but has been active on the basepaths in the past. He might make for a decent short-term roster add in AL-only formats.

Gentry had his contract selected from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Gentry will serve as a reserve outfielder in a role similar to that of Joey Rickard, while Hyun Soo Kim, Adam Jones and Seth Smith will be the presumed starters. The veteran was once a threat to run, stealing 25 bases at the Triple-A level for Oakland in 2015, but is unlikely to see many opportunities on the basepaths this year. Instead, his speed could help Gentry see reps as a late-game defensive replacement in the outfield.

Gentry is expected to make the Orioles' 25-man roster as a reserve outfielder, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
After posting a .974 OPS in 28 Grapefruit League games, the veteran outfielder forced his way onto the major-league roster despite his NRI status. His ability to be added to the 40-man roster is still dependent on Aneury Tavarez passing through waivers, but all signs seem to be indicating that won't pose a problem. Gentry seems primed for a role as the fifth outfielder in Buck Showalter's arsenal.

Gentry (groin) will start in center field and bat leadoff in Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Rays, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Orioles scratched Gentry from the lineup Monday after his groin acted up, but his availability one day later suggests it's not a major concern. The veteran is still competing for an Opening Day roster spot, but even in a best-case scenario, he'd likely be no more than a fourth or fifth outfielder for the Orioles

Gentry is out of the Orioles' lineup Monday dealing with a groin injury, Rich Dubroff of Pressboxonline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
At this point, it's unclear how much time Gentry will miss with the injury, so consider him day-to-day until the Orioles release more about his status. The 33-year-old veteran isn't expected to make the Opening Day roster, but should be a top option if the Orioles need to fill a void.

Gentry went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, three RBI, two runs and a strikeout in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
Gentry had gone hitless in his previous four games before busting out Wednesday. He's now 5-for-20 (.250) with four RBI, four runs and five strikeouts through 10 spring games. The 33-year-old, eight-year veteran is not expected to make the Opening Day roster, but with 456 MLB games and nearly 1,000 big league at-bats to his name, Gentry would be a top option to join the Orioles should a need arise.

Gentry's defensive prowess give his a boost in the race for an Opening Day reserve role, SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old outfielder has bounced between the majors and minors for the past couple of seasons. Gentry is an above-average defender which is something the Orioles have a need for. If Gentry makes the team, he will be relegated to a platoon role most likely in left field, but can also fill in for Adam Jones in center when needed.

Gentry signed a minor league deal with the Orioles on Saturday, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal includes an invitation to spring training, where Gentry is expected to report immediately. The 33-year-old hit just .147 in 14 major league games with the Angels last season, but has a .261 career average and can play any outfield position. Gentry will compete for a reserve role in the Baltimore outfield, along with Christian Walker and Aneury Tavarez.

Gentry refused his assignment to the minors and elected to become a free agent Wednesday, Pedro Moura of the LA Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gentry was designated for assignment after being activated from the DL (back) on July 30. The 32-year-old will become a free agent after exercising his right to refuse the assignment. He has hit just .147/.237/.176 in the majors this season over the course of 39 plate appearances, but is a career .261 hitter during his eight years in the MLB. Gentry could get a chance with a team looking for some outfield depth.

Gentry (back) was activated from the DL and designated for assignment by the Angels on Saturday, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Gentry's 20-day rehab window closing, the Angeles were forced to make a move, and they decided to DFA the 32-year-old rather than return him to the roster. Gentry has hit just .147/.237/.176 in 39 plate appearances in the major this year and he struggled throughout his rehab assignment, so it's a stretch to think another team will pluck him off waivers.
