Gentry signed a one-year contract with the Angels on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the addition of Gentry, the Angels have bolstered their outfield depth at a low cost, though they figure to continue exploring the trade market for a more impactful corner bat. Gentry still has decent speed at 32, but struggled mightily in 26 games with Oakland last season, and his track record at Triple-A is less than stellar (.268/.341/.346).

Gentry declined his assignment to Triple-A on Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran spent most of last season in the minors and failed to impress during 26 games with the big league club, posting a .120/.196/.200 slash line. He likely would have been relegated to a similar role in 2016, so declining the assignment at least provides him to seek a potentially more significant role for another club.

Gentry cleared waivers Monday and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville.
EDGE Analysis
Gentry wasn't particularly impressive with Triple-A last season, so the lack of interest from the rest of the league isn't all that surprising. He could have a chance to help out the big league club at some point next season, but the 32-year-old will likely just serve as outfield depth within the organization.

Gentry was designated for assignment Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Gentry spent the majority of the season in the minors, but did see time in the majors as a September call-up en route to slashing just .120/.196/.200 in 26 games with the big league team. The 31-year-old had established himself as a reliable major league option in the past, but he struggled to find his form in 2015 and will likely have to earn an Opening Day roster spot in spring training.

Gentry was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Genry will come up from Nashville with the Triple-A season coming to a close Monday night. He's seen time in only 17 major league games on the year, going 3-for-38 (.079) with 13 strikeouts.

Gentry was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Gentry was the unfortunate odd man out upon the return of Ben Zobrist from the disabled list. Given his 3-for-38 mark at the plate through 17 games this season, it's not a big surprise that he's the one gone. The 31-year-old will return to Triple-A in an attempt to regain his form from the last few seasons.

Gentry was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, MLB.com reports. Gentry's stay in the minors lasted less than two weeks, as the Athletics were in need of an extra bat after Ike Davis (quadriceps) was placed on the disabled list. The team's outfield still remains crowded, however, which will likely limit Gentry to serving as a fourth or fifth outfielder in his return to the parent club.

Gentry was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Gentry has been terrible so far in 2015, sporting a .086 average over 35 at-bats with zero extra base hits. He was sent down to make room for Coco Crisp and will try and get his bat going in Nashville.

Gentry is out of the lineup for the fourth straight game Sunday against the Rangers. Gentry has had his fair share of opportunities in April, but is just 2-for-33 at the plate while still searching for his first extra-base hit. With Billy Burns now in the mix in Oakland, Gentry and his .280 OPS risk being faded out of the outfield rotation, if it hasn't happened already.

Gentry is out of the lineup Thursday, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports. He had gotten three starts in a row, but he has just one hit over that span. While Gentry provides excellent defense in left field, the A's will opt to add a little pop to the lineup with Mark Canha getting the start Thursday.
