Wilson's (shoulder) MRI results from Monday only revealed tendinitis, Jeff Fletcher of the OC Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson initially felt discomfort in his left shoulder after Friday's bullpen session, which obviously worried the Angels since he underwent surgery on his left elbow back in August to clear out chips and spurs causing excessive agitation while pitching. The recourse for the 35-year-old will likely be rest as he seems to still be on track for a regular workload at the onset of the new season.

Wilson underwent a precautionary MRI on Monday after feeling pain in his throwing shoulder following Saturday's bullpen session, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports. The results of the MRI have yet to be released.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson has a long history of left elbow injuries during his career, and most recently he underwent surgery in August to deal with various chips and spurs which caused an agitation. It's unclear if his post-surgery delivery is the cause of his shoulder soreness, or if there's a separate issue altogether. Either way, Wilson remains a risky option heading into the new season at 35 years old.

Wilson will throw a bullpen session Friday, the OC Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson will be evaluated following the session, at which point the Angels will determine his schedule as spring training progresses. Wilson, who is coming off of left elbow surgery, said he feels good, but he may need to adjust his throwing workouts based upon how the elbow responds. Regardless, barring a setback, Wilson is expected at full strength for Opening Day.

Wilson has been deemed "free and clear, an unrestricted player," and good for spring training by Angels general manager Billy Eppler, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson was expected to be ready for spring training due to sacrificing the end of the 2015 season to have some bone spurs removed, but this gives confirmation that he'll be good to go for the 2016 campaign.

Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson will undergo season-ending surgery to remove bone spurs from his left elbow, according to MLB.com. Wilson was expected to opt for surgery by Aug. 1 but delayed the procedure while seeking a second opinion with the hope he could return this year. Wilson's long-term prognosis was not affected by his decision to delay surgery, and he is expected to make a full recovery prior to the 2016 season. Wilson finishes the season 8-8 with a 3.89 ERA in 21 starts, striking out 110 in 132.0 innings, his fewest innings since becoming a full-time starter in 2010. Wilson will turn 35 in November and has one year remaining on his contract, which will pay him $20 million. The Angels do not need to add a pitcher to the rotation because Jered Weaver came off the disabled list Aug. 9.

Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson is expected to require season-ending elbow surgery, according to the Orange County Register. A recent MRI showed an elbow impingement secondary to arthritis, issues seemingly related to the bone spurs revealed in an earlier exam. Wilson, who has an 8-8 record and 3.89 earned-run averaged this season, was placed on the 15-day disabled Friday because of left elbow inflammation, and it appears likely that Jered Weaver will replace him in the rotation. Despite numerous injuries in the rotation this season, the Angles did not add any pitchers before Friday's non-waiver trade deadline. ''The things that we decided not to do, we think (those trades) would have left us worse off, and we had the discipline not to do it," general manger Bill Stoneman told MLB.com. "I know the media, and therefore the fans, are really looking with excitement about the trade deadline, but it doesn't mean you do something crazy just to make a headline. That's not what it's about."

The Los Angeles Angels placed pitcher C.J. Wilson on the 15-day disabled list Friday because of left elbow inflammation, according to MLB.com. The Angels recalled pitcher Drew Rucinski to take Wilson's roster spot, but it is uncertain who will replace Wilson in the starting rotation. Jered Weaver has been sidelined for nearly a month due to hip inflammation but is expected to return soon, and he would be a likely candidate to replace Wilson, who has an 8-8 record and 3.89 ERA this season but allowed six runs and six hits in four innings in his most recent appearance. The Angels made moves to acquire three outfielders prior to Friday's non-waiver trade deadline, but did not add any pitching depth, suggesting the team is not concerned about Wilson's long-term prognosis. ''The things that we decided not to do, we think (those trades) would have left us worse off, and we had the discipline not to do it," general manger Bill Stoneman said. Wilson allowed three runs on five hits while walking four and striking out five over six innings in a loss to the Mariners on Saturday. Wilson was able to hang around after allowing three runs in the first two innings to pick up his third consecutive quality start, but his K:BB ratio over that span is a bit troubling, as he has struck out just 14 while walking nine in 18.2 innings. He head into the All-Star break having tallied a 7-7 record 3.83 earned-run average in 18 games.

Wilson allowed three runs on six hits and two walks across six innings Sunday against the Rangers. He struck out four and improved his record to 7-6 on the season. The lefty was in line for an even better outing but he fizzled in the sixth inning and allowed a pair of runs before finishing out the frame. Wilson has now provided four quality starts in his last five outings and his season ERA now sits at 3.82. He will draw a cushy matchup against light-hitting Seattle in his next start Saturday.

Wilson improved to 6-6 as he allowed one run on five hits and three walks over six innings Monday against the Yankees. Wilson has now allowed one run or fewer in three of his past four starts. The quality start was Wilson's ninth in 16 outings this year. Over 25 percent of Wilson's earned runs came in a pair of outings to begin the month; starts like Monday's have been closer to the norm for Wilson, who lowered his ERA to 3.78 in the process.
