Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson is expected to require season-ending elbow surgery, according to the Orange County Register. A recent MRI showed an elbow impingement secondary to arthritis, issues seemingly related to the bone spurs revealed in an earlier exam. Wilson, who has an 8-8 record and 3.89 earned-run averaged this season, was placed on the 15-day disabled Friday because of left elbow inflammation, and it appears likely that Jered Weaver will replace him in the rotation. Despite numerous injuries in the rotation this season, the Angles did not add any pitchers before Friday's non-waiver trade deadline. ''The things that we decided not to do, we think (those trades) would have left us worse off, and we had the discipline not to do it," general manger Bill Stoneman told MLB.com. "I know the media, and therefore the fans, are really looking with excitement about the trade deadline, but it doesn't mean you do something crazy just to make a headline. That's not what it's about."
