The Los Angeles Angels placed pitcher C.J. Wilson on the 15-day disabled list Friday because of left elbow inflammation, according to MLB.com. The Angels recalled pitcher Drew Rucinski to take Wilson's roster spot, but it is uncertain who will replace Wilson in the starting rotation. Jered Weaver has been sidelined for nearly a month due to hip inflammation but is expected to return soon, and he would be a likely candidate to replace Wilson, who has an 8-8 record and 3.89 ERA this season but allowed six runs and six hits in four innings in his most recent appearance. The Angels made moves to acquire three outfielders prior to Friday's non-waiver trade deadline, but did not add any pitching depth, suggesting the team is not concerned about Wilson's long-term prognosis. ''The things that we decided not to do, we think (those trades) would have left us worse off, and we had the discipline not to do it," general manger Bill Stoneman said. "I know the media, and therefore the fans, are really looking with excitement about the trade deadline, but it doesn't mean you do something crazy just to make a headline. That's not what it's about."
