Young went 1-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Young's seventh-inning at-bat in which he came back from down 0-2 to draw a walk set the stage for Sandy Leon's game-deciding RBI. Young will play most days while Jackie Bradley (knee) is out of the lineup, but that window is closing this week. Bradley, who is eligible to return from the 10-day disabled list Wednesday, is set to begin a rehabilitation assignment Tuesday and should join the Red Sox in Toronto later this week.

Young will draw the start at designated hitter and bat in the cleanup spot Sunday against the Tigers, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox will get Mookie Betts (illness) back in the lineup following a week-long absence, but Hanley Ramirez (illness), Jackie Bradley (knee) and Xander Bogaerts (bereavement) remain unavailable, allowing Young to stick in the lineup for the fourth straight game. Though Young has recorded just two hits in 12 at-bats this season, all but three of his plate appearances have come against right-handers, who have gotten the better of him throughout his career. He'll have a much more favorable assignment against Tigers lefty Daniel Norris on Sunday, and his presence in the heart of the lineup could make him an attractive DFS option. Over his career, the 33-year-old has slashed .266/.364/.480 against southpaws.

Young is hitting fifth and playing right field Friday against the Tigers, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mookie Betts (illness) remains out, so Young gets a chance at a good spot in the Red Sox order. Friday may be a good opportunity to use him in daily fantasy games for a sneaky chance at profit.

Young will start in right field and bat sixth in the order Wednesday against the Pirates, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young has beat up on left-handed pitching throughout his career, but he'll get a rare start against a right-handed hurler in the Pirates' Jameson Taillon with the Red Sox down Mookie Betts and Brock Holt to cases of the flu. Though he'll occupy some prime real estate in a star-powered Red Sox lineup, Young owns a career .225/.294/.413 line against right-handers, so he may not be an appealing option as part of a stack in DFS contests.

Young went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Saturday's game against Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Young got the start in left field and homered off left-hander Wade LeBlanc. His ability to hit lefties -- Young had a .999 OPS against south paws in 2016 -- is the reason Boston signed him two offseasons ago. With Andrew Benintendi around for a full season and expected to start against pitchers of either hand, there will be fewer opportunities for Young in the field in 2017. Most of his playing time will come as a designated hitter when Boston is facing a left-hander.

Young should get regular at-bats as Boston's designated hitter against left-handed starters in 2017.
EDGE Analysis
Young was signed to a two-year deal prior to last season with the intention of starting him in the outfield against left-handed starters. And he pretty much did that and more when he was healthy. He'll serve as the team's fourth outfielder, but manager John Farrell will not want to sit Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley or Mookie Betts against pitchers of any hand. That leaves designated hitter as the likely landing spot for Young. He'll be part of a first-base/DH platoon with Hanley Ramirez and Mitch Moreland.

Young went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a homer, and three runs scored Monday against the Orioles. He was also caught stealing.
EDGE Analysis
After the Red Sox chased Baltimore starter Wade Miley from the game after just 1.1 innings, Young took reliever Vance Worley for a double and a home run. He later added his third extra-base hit against Brian Duensing, capping an outstanding day at the plate. Young has a solid .290 batting average over 169 at-bats on the year, with a nice .550 slugging percentage to go along with it.

Young homered and drove in two runs in a 2-for-4 game in Tuesday's win over San Diego.
EDGE Analysis
After going just 4-for-23 without a home run in his first 10 games back from the disabled list, Young has found his power stroke. He lifted his second home run in two games after managing a blast in a pinch-hitting role Monday. Young has a .519 slugging percentage in 60 games this year after managing a .453 mark and 4 home runs in 140 games for the Yankees last season.

Young is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the A's, according to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe.
EDGE Analysis
Young went 0-for-3 in Boston's last game Wednesday and is just 4-for-19 (.211) since coming off the disabled list Aug. 22, so manager John Farrell decided to hold him out in favor of Brock Holt for the second time in three games.

Young was the starting left fielder Thursday, the first game following Andrew Benintendi's knee injury that landed him on the disabled list. He went 0-for-2 with a walk and strikeout before being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning of Boston's 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox are still figuring out the severity of Benintendi's knee injury -- Thursday's MRI was inconclusive -- but that in itself is worrisome. With the rookie placed on the 15-day disabled list, Young will have at least the next two weeks as Boston's primary left fielder. It could be longer pending the results of additional testing on Benintendi due Friday.
