Young will occupy the cleanup spot and serve as the Red Sox's designated hitter for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader with the Yankees, Chad Jennings of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager John Farrell wanted to give Hanley Ramirez a break for one of the two contests, so the 33-year-old will sit out the matinee, opening up a lineup spot for Young, who has gone 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the series. Young's at-bats have been quite sporadic since about mid-April, but his season-long statistics haven't suffered much as a result. Over 178 plate appearances this season, Young is slashing a palatable .248/.331/.376.

Young has three hits in only 11 at-bats over Boston's last 11 games.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old holds a .255/.339/.386 slash line with four home runs in 153 at-bats this season. Young is nothing more than a fourth outfielder for Boston at this point, and hasn't seen an extended stretch of starts since center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr.'s stint on the disabled list back in mid-April

Young went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Young has received sparse playing time over the past few weeks, but he actually has collected a hit in each of his past seven starts. This strong string of performances has his average up to .276, and although he still isn't in line to see regular at-bats, he at least continues to have decent value when a few southpaws are lined up to face Boston in a given week.

Young served as the designated hitter Saturday with Hanley Ramirez unavailable due to a sore neck. He went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a 7-1 loss to Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Ramirez has missed the last two games due to the neck injury, paving the way for Young to get a couple of increasingly rare starts. He's started just four of the past 16 games. Ramirez's inability to play regularly in the field has limited him to designated hitter only. That development along with Boston's young and healthy outfield have served to cap Young's opportunities at the plate.

Young will start in left field and bat second Wednesday against the Yankees, Scott Lauber of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young's starting opportunities have taken a hit since April with the Red Sox enjoying better health in the outfield, but manager John Farrell won't hesitate to make room for the veteran in the lineup when left-handers are starting for the opposition. The 33-year-old owns a career .266/.364/.476 line against southpaws, but an unremarkable 2-for-8 lifetime mark versus Wednesday's starter, CC Sabathia.

Young started in left field Tuesday against White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana and went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in a 13-7 win.
EDGE Analysis
Young had been getting regular duty earlier this season when the Red Sox navigated personnel shortages due to the flu and an injury to outfielder Jackie Bradley, but he's had just 20 at-bats over the last 15 games, including six DNPs. The offseason plan was for Young to serve as the designated hitter against lefties while Hanley Ramirez would slide to first base. That brought the potential for more than the 227 plate appearances he made in 2016. But with Ramirez's lingering shoulder woes preventing him from playing the field, he's been locked in at DH against pitchers of either hand. And with Boston having called up Sam Travis to play first base against southpaws, it seemingly has given up on the notion of Ramirez playing the field. That means Young's playing time will be suppressed as long as Boston's young outfielders remain healthy.

Young went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo homers in Saturday's victory over the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Young led an 11-run Red Sox onslaught by homering in the second and fifth innings to give him his first two homers of the season. Although he's hitting a solid .270, he offers fantasy owners little help in any other categories, making him a player best left on the waiver wire in most leagues.

Young went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a walk during Saturday's loss to Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder is sporting a .245/.344/.283 slash line and projects to see a decline in playing time with Jackie Bradley Jr. back from a knee injury. Still, Young has an impressive track record against southpaws with a .405 wOBA over 273 plate appearances dating back to the 2015 season. He should be on your DFS radar when Boston faces a lefty.

Young is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Jackie Bradley (knee) returning from the disabled list, Young is expected to return to a platoon role in the Boston outfield, with most of his opportunities coming against left-handed pitching. Young is just 1-for-10 so far this season against lefties, but he hit .329/.410/.589 against southpaws in 2016 (compared to .246/.319/.446 against right-handed pitching).

Young is out of the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young's absence Thursday will break a streak of six straight starts in left field, over which he's gone 4-for-22 at the plate without an extra-base hit. Brock Holt will get the call in left for the series finale.
