Young sustained a Grade 1 right calf strain while participating in running drills Tuesday. He will remain in a walking boot for the next week and expects to return in roughly 10 days, Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young recently agreed to a one-year deal with the club this past weekend. It doesn't appear as though this injury should signal any major concern over Young's status heading into this season, but it will be beneficial if he's able to avoid any sort of setback and get comfortable with his new team prior to Opening Day. Young will be utilized as a backup outfielder for the Angels in 2018, after slashing .235/.322/.387 with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 90 games a season ago for Boston.

Young signed a one-year deal worth $2 million with the Angels on Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young served as a backup outfielder for the Red Sox last season. He played in 90 games and hit .235 with a .709 OPS. The 34-year-old figures to have a similar role with his new club, as the Angels have a sound outfield containing Justin Upton, Mike Trout, and Kole Calhoun.

Young was officially added to the Red Sox's ALDS roster Thursday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox removed Eduardo Nunez from the 25-man roster following his unfortunate knee injury Thursday and have elected to fill the void on the roster with reserve outfielder Chris Young. The 12-year veteran slashed .235/.322/.387 in 276 plate appearances and likely won't function as anything more than a bench bat for the remainder of the series.

Young went 3-for-4 with a single, a double, a triple, an RBI and a run against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Only the homer was missing from his bid for a cycle. Young had appeared in only three of Boston's prior 12 games, going 0-for-11 in that span, so this big game will surely have him feeling better about himself, but he's still just a reserve piece in the outfield who won't find a home on many fantasy rosters.

Young was added to the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Young was set to come off the bench Saturday as he regularly does, but fellow outfielder Mookie Betts (foot) was a late scratch, and Young will get the start in his place. He will man right field and hit seventh in Boston's batting order.

Young's struggles against left-handers this season has gotten to the point where manager John Farrell will not platoon him against southpaws, Chad Jennings of the Boston Herald reports. "I think there comes a point here where it's, 'You know what, we have to pay closer attention to what is currently taking place to win today at basically all costs,'" said the manager.
EDGE Analysis
Young has made a living mashing left-handers, but is hititng .191 off them this season. As such, Farrell will no longer reflexively put him in the lineup against left-handed starters.

Young will serve as the Red Sox's designated hitter and bat fifth Sunday against the Orioles, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackie Bradley's (thumb) recent placement on the disabled list has opened up some extra at-bats for Young, who will collect his third straight start Sunday. According to Scott Lauber of ESPN.com, Bradley was able to resume swinging a bat Sunday and could be activated from the disabled list during the upcoming week, at which point Young will likely fade back into a reserve role.

Young is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Rays, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young will be back on the bench following a string of three straight starts, as the return of Dustin Pedroia (knee) from the disabled list leaves no extra lineup spot available. With Hanley Ramirez (oblique) expected back Wednesday, Young's path to consistent at-bats will only become more difficult.

Young went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double and five RBI during Sunday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Young made a rare appearance in the cleanup spot and did major damage Sunday. The veteran is playing sparingly and sports a mediocre .251/.332/.428 slash line for the campaign, so his fantasy value remains limited, so Young should probably be left to cavernous settings.

Young will start in right field and bat cleanup Sunday against the White Sox, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's only the fifth start in the last 15 games for Young, who enters the lineup with Mookie Betts receiving the day off for rest. Young likely won't see many at-bats so long as the regular outfield trio of Betts, Andrew Benintendi and Jackie Bradley remains healthy, but he could have some appeal as a punt-play option in daily contests, especially in situations like Sunday where he occupies a prominent spot in the lineup.
