Young (hamstring) has been running without pain and the Red Sox are targeting the next homestand for him to begin a rehabilitation assignment, Jasaon Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young, who is currently traveling with the Red Sox on the current 11-game road trip, will get back to Boston on Aug. 8. Until Young is activated off the disabled list, Brock Holt will be the primary left fielder for Boston.

Young (hamstring) has been hitting in the cage, but still isn't at the point where he can run a full sprint, Julian Benbow of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boston manager John Farrell described Young's progress as "gradual" since he strained his right hamstring a little more than a month ago. Young will join the Red Sox on the team Thursday when it begins an 11-game road trip through Anaheim, Seattle and Los Angeles.

Young (hamstring) is at least two weeks away from beginning baseball activities, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
That will be a month from the time he was placed on the disabled to the time he begins activity. Throw in a rehab stint and it looks like Young won't return until the end of July at the earliest.

Young (hamstring) underwent an MRI Monday that showed his injury is more severe than originally thought, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
While the exact details of Young's injury weren't revealed, it's reasonable to expect he'll need more than the minimum 15 days to recover. Since being injured, Bryce Brentz and Ryan LaMarre have taken over Young's spot in left field.

Young (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, Sean McAdam of Comcast Sports Net reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox have yet to announce a corresponding roster move, but Young's placement on the disabled list means one less healthy and major-league-caliber outfielder in Boston. Young appeared to injure his hamstring Thursday while rounding first base and he looked to be in immense pain as he left the field. With Brock Holt (concussion) and Blake Swihart (ankle) also sidelined, Boston could have to get creative with its left field rotation until Holt is ready to return.

Young sustained a right hamstring strain Thursday, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young was rounding first base when he clutched for his leg and had to be carted off the field. He will undergo further examination, which should give a better indication of the severity of the ailment and could also provide a more precise timetable. A DL stint for the left fielder is well within the realm of possibility, which could coincide with the impending return of Brock Holt (concussion) in the coming days.

Young was helped off the field with an apparent leg injury in Thursday's game against the White Sox, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young lined a single to left field to lead off the second inning, but pulled up after rounding first base and immediately grabbed for his leg around the hamstring area. More information should become available eventually, but Ryan LaMarre -- who was tabbed to come in after the injury -- figures to be in line for more playing time should Young miss any time with Brock Holt (concussion) still on the shelf.

Young batted fifth in the order Wednesday night, going 0-for-5 with a strikeout in Boston's 8-6 loss to the White Sox. He was moved up in the order, taking the spot the slumping Hanley Ramirez had been in for much of the season.
EDGE Analysis
While several of Boston's regulars have slumped in June, Young has been full-value since the middle of May, hitting .302/.378/.600 in the previous 26 games before his 0-fer on Wednesday. He nearly missed a game-winning homer by inches in the eighth inning when his batted ball sailed foul. We'll probably see him stick in the five-hole for now, as Ramirez, Travis Shaw and Jackie Bradley have all hit a June swoon.

Young is back in the lineup, playing left field and batting seventh against Seattle on Friday, Scott Lauber of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Young left Wednesday's game with a quadriceps injury but is good to go for Game-1 of Boston's series with Seattle. The 32-year-old was not an everyday player during the start of the season, but given his career-high batting average this year (.286), he's been rewarded with extra playing time, having started 11 of the last 12 games he's been available. During that stretch, he's slashing .326/.383/.721 with five homers.

Young (quadriceps) is expected to return to the starting lineup Friday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports. "Just being careful. I'll be able to play [Friday]," he said.
EDGE Analysis
Young left Wednesday night's game due to a quadriceps injury and because he has a history of that injury, Red Sox manager John Farrell held him out of Thursday night's game. Rusney Castillo started in place of Young in left field Thursday.
