Coghlan went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 11-3 loss to the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The struggling outfielder is finally starting to find some success on the plate in a Cubs uniform. The 31-year-old is 4-for-8 over the first two games of the series against the Brewers and has seven RBI over nine September games.

Coghlan went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and two runs in Friday's 5-4 extra-inning victory over the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran utility man's ninth-inning run-scoring hit brought home Willson Contreras, closing the gap to 4-3 at the time and kickstarting the Cubs' comeback. Coghlan is having an absolutely forgettable season at the plate, but now has a pair of multi-hit outings over his last four games. The outing represented Coghlan's only three-hit effort of the season, and despite Friday's production, he still sports a forgettable .177/.267/.293 line in 2016.

Coghlan came off the bench on Labor Day to go 2-for-2 with three RBI.
EDGE Analysis
Coghlan had been just 1-for-9 since his activation from the disabled list before Monday's productive day. The outfielder hasn't offered much with the bat this year, hitting .231 with five home runs since being acquired from the Athletics earlier this season.

Coghlan (ribs) was activated off the DL on Thursday and is in the starting lineup against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Coghlan will return after missing the minimum 15 days, and he was able to play in five rehab games with Triple-A Iowa during that time. He'll get the start in left field Thursday and bat seventh against Jeff Samardzija, but he likely won't be in line for a regular role down the stretch run of the season.

Coghlan (ribs) is expected to come off the DL on Thursday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
EDGE Analysis
On his rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa, Coghlan has gone 8-for-17 over five games. However, It's unlikely that Coghlan will see an increase in time on the field once he comes off the DL. Coghlan's line of .165/.261/.288 simply doesn't justify greater usage and the Cubs' depth gives them plenty of more formidable options everywhere on the field.

Coghlan was placed on the disabled list with a rib contusion, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coghlan made the most of his limited action in August, having gone 4-for-13 at the plate with three RBI. However, he hadn't been seeing consistent playing time, so his absence will hardly be felt by the Cubs. In a corresponding move, the Cubs recalled Spender Patton from Triple-A Iowa.

Coghlan went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run single against the Cardinals on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Carlos Martinez was dealing before the Cubs plated three in the sixth inning, highlighted by Coghlan's single. Though he's hitting just .208 in 24 games with the Cubs this year, his 12 walks have helped him to a .377 on-base percentage.

Coghlan (ribs) was activated from the disabled list Friday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coghlan is set to return to action after missing nearly a month with his rib injury. He will jump right into the starting lineup in left field Friday, and hit leadoff with Dexter Fowler getting a day off. Moving forward, he has an opportunity to see action at the corner outfield spots, but those positions have turned over frequently of late and Coghlan owns just a .522 OPS on the season, so don't expect him to play every day.

Coghlan (ribs) will begin a rehab assignment on Friday with Double-A Tennessee, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coghlan was placed on the disabled list by the Cubs on July 3. On the season, Coghlan is struggling, hitting just .155 with five home runs and 14 RBI in 194 at-bats. Since being traded to the Cubs, Coghlan has played only left and right field. With the emergence of Willson Contreras, Coghlan will have a hard time finding consistent playing time with the Cubs.

EDGE Analysis
Coghlan left Saturday's game against the Mets in the fourth inning after he aggravated his sore ribs. In a corresponding move, the Cubs recalled Jeimer Candelario to take his place on the 25-man roster.
