Coghlan agreed to a minor league deal with the Phillies on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The utility man split time between the A's and Cubs last season, hitting a combined .188/.290/.318, although his second half with the Cubs (.252/.391/.388) was much improved from his first half (.146/.215/.272). He can play pretty much anywhere and could be a valuable utility player for the Phillies if he can hit like he did with Chicago.

Coghlan is not in the lineup for Game 1 of the NLDS against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Coghlan picked up a good chunk of playing time toward the end of the season as the left-handed replacement for Jorge Soler, but he'll take the day off despite the fact that right-hander Johnny Cueto is toeing the rubber for San Francisco. Ben Zobrist will man left field in his stead while Javier Baez takes over at second base.

Coghlan is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs have been using a number of players in left field during the final week of the season, but Coghlan has been the primary option, with starts at the position in three of the previous five games. While Jorge Soler will get the nod in left for the regular season finale, Coghlan still looks like the leading candidate to see the bulk of the time at the position in the postseason by virtue of being the left-handed hitter of the two.

Coghlan (ankle) is back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coghlan suffered a mild left ankle sprain Wednesday, but apparently just one day off was enough for him to draw back into action. He'll get the nod in left field Friday and bat seventh against Cincinnati starter Josh Smith.

Coghlan left Wednesday's game with a mild left ankle sprain.
EDGE Analysis
This diagnosis is favorable and would seem to bode well for Coghlan's chances of being OK for the postseason, but it's uncertain if he'll be available in any capacity over the rest of this week. Coghlan suffered the injury in a collision with the outfield wall.

Coghlan left Wednesday's game with an apparent left leg injury, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He attempted to track down a ball off the bat of Pittsburgh's Sean Rodriguez but crashed into the outfield wall and appeared to hurt his leg. While Coghlan was forced to leave the game, he walked off the field under his own power without a pronounced limp. Albert Almora replaced Coghlan in left field.

Coghlan went 2-for-3 with a walk, triple, three RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Coghlan's bases-loaded triple in the second inning was his second of the season, and gave the veteran 11 RBI for September, his highest total in any month this season. Overall, the 2016 campaign has been a disappointing one for Cohlan, who has been plagued by injuries and part of a mid-season trade for the first time in his career. On the bright side, the 31-year-old seems to be hitting stride just in time for the playoffs. In Coghlan's last seven starts, he's 11-for-122 with seven walks, seven RBI and seven runs.

EDGE Analysis
Coghlan will get the start in left field Monday and hit leadoff with Dexter Fowler getting a day off. Coghlan has seen the ball well in September, going 10-for-34 (.294) with a 5:6 BB:K.

Coghlan went 1-for-2 with an RBI double and two walks in Friday's 5-0 victory over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder continues to build some momentum at the plate as the regular season comes to a close, now having hit safely in five of his last seven games. Coghlan got off to a miserable start to the season in Oakland and initially struggled with the Cubs as well, but is hiting .304 (14-for-46) with four doubles, a homer, 10 RBI, six walks and eight runs since Aug. 2.
