Norris collected his fourth save in a 5-3 win over the Cubs on Tuesday, firing 1.2 scoreless innings in which he allowed a hit and recorded three strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Norris has seemingly taken on the role of full-time closer for the time being as Greg Holland gets up to speed, and he's been exceedingly impressive. The 33-year-old has converted three straight save opportunities, compiling a sparkling 8:1 K:BB in those outings. Norris has logged three appearances (3.2 innings) over the last five days, however, so manager Mike Matheny may need to turn elsewhere over the next couple of games in terms of ninth-inning options.

Norris gave up one run on two hits over one inning Sunday, but earned his third save of the season as the Cardinals defeated the Reds 3-2.
EDGE Analysis
Adam Duvall hit a home run off Norris in the game's ninth inning, but the 33-year-old was able to escape without any more damage and picked up a save. Norris has now converted all three of his save opportunities this season and could see some more high-leverage situations in the short term. However, the expectation remains that Norris will move to a role as a setup man once Greg Holland is ready to take over as closer.

Norris got the save Friday in the Cardinals' win over the Reds, striking out the side while giving up one hit and one walk.
EDGE Analysis
This was Norris' second save on the year, the first coming on April 7 against the Diamondbacks. He's been sharp thus far, surrendering only one run on six hits in 6.1 innings while striking out 12 against one walk. Greg Holland still figures to be the primary closer for the Cardinals, and manager Mike Matheny is likely giving Holland some expanded opportunity to ease into the role. Expect Norris to slide back into a setup role as long as Holland progresses smoothly.

Norris allowed one hit and struck out the side in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to pick up his first save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The Cards' convoluted closer situation just got a little more muddled. Dominic Leone came out to pitch the sixth inning and protect a 5-2 lead, perhaps in preparation for Greg Holland's eventual move into the ninth-inning role, and in Leone's place Norris looked very good in nailing down the win. Should Holland get hurt or struggle once he's added to the 25-man roster, the veteran Norris -- who saved 19 games for the Angels last year and now has a 7:0 K:BB through his first four innings in 2018 -- now seems like he could be in the mix as a replacement.

Norris grabbed his first hold of the season in Monday's 8-4 win over the Brewers, firing a scoreless inning and recording two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Norris got three outs on an efficient 12 pitches and got out of the jam he inherited from starter Miles Mikolas in the sixth by striking out Orlando Arcia with runners at the corners. The 33-year-old is off to a strong start in 2018, having worked 2.1 scoreless frames thus far and recording four strikeouts over a pair of appearances.

Norris fired 1.1 scoreless innings in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Mets, allowing two hits and a wild pitch while recording two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Norris got Travis d'Arnaud swinging to end the fifth after allowing Todd Frazier to advance on a wild pitch, and he effective neutralized the bottom of the Mets' order in his one full frame in the sixth. It was a positive 2018 debut for the veteran right-hander, who's expected to have a sizable relief role this season but had generated an unsightly 10.80 ERA over eight spring appearances, including one start.

Norris (hamstring) fired a scoreless eighth inning in Friday's 4-2 Grapefruit League loss to the Astros, recording a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old was sharp in his first appearance since March 2 and remains very much in the mix for a bullpen role at a minimum, Glenn Sattell of MLB.com reports. Norris, who started no fewer than 27 games in each season between 2010 and 2014, is also a candidate for a potential hybrid role on what is presently considered a deep staff. "He certainly could, we'll see if that's how he could best help us," manager Mike Matheny said. "The experience he had last year and how well he responded, and how well it looked as a one-inning guy, I think it's worth taking a good, long look at."

Norris (hamstring) threw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Norris is working his way back from a hamstring strain suffered Friday against the Red Sox. He's able to throw, but the team wanted to keep him from game action in order to prevent him from needing to sprint over to cover first base. It seems likely that he'll be ready to go by Opening Day.

Norris suffered a left hamstring strain Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
He got a surprise start after Carlos Martinez was scratched for personal reasons. Even more surprisingly, Norris pitched 2.1 innings before exiting. He gave up five earned runs, and was likely just trying to build up a pitch count so that he can enter the season capable of getting more than three outs out of the Cardinals' bullpen. Norris will probably miss at least a week with the hamstring issue, but has a chance to be ready to go on Opening Day. This makes him a long shot to win the closer's role, and given his usage Friday, he may not have been in that mix in the first place.

Norris left Friday's game with an apparently lower-body injury, FOX Sports Midwest reports.
EDGE Analysis
Norris surprisingly got the start after Carlos Martinez (personal) was scratched. He logged 2.1 innings and surrendering five earned runs on four hits and a walk before exiting with the injury. Norris was likely just tabbed for the start because he was scheduled to get work anyway on Friday, but it's interesting that he pitched more than two innings. His status will be updated when the exact nature of the injury is provided.
