Norris could figure into the ninth-inning mix for the Cardinals this year, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. "It will define itself in time," manager Mike Matheny said of the closer role. "It's completely different this year, where we have a number of guys. Having a number of guys that could finish a game would be great."
EDGE Analysis
Luke Gregerson was tabbed as the likely closer by president of baseball operations John Mozeliak, but that was before the Cardinals signed Norris, who saved 19 games for the Angels last year. Tyler Lyons also remains in the mix, as he posted impressive numbers and saved three games for the Cardinals last season. With this uncertainty, none of the Cardinals' relievers are worth targeting aggressively in drafts and auctions, but the top guys are all worth rostering at the right price.

Norris has reached an agreement to join the Cardinals on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
After starting for the majority of his nine-year career, Norris moved to the bullpen for the Angels last season and spent part of the year as their closer, recording his first 19 career saves. An August knee injury eventually cost him the job and brings some health risk for the 32-year-old this season, but he joins a team without an established closer, which could help his fantasy value this season. Luke Gregerson will be the favorite to close to start the year, but it's not impossible to see Norris outperforming him and taking the job at some point.

Norris allowed two hits and two walks while striking out four over three scoreless innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This was solid effort from Norris, but it was another short outing, which was to be expected after he spent nearly the entire season in the bullpen. Norris served as the Angels' closer for a good chunk of the year, and while he eventually pitched his way out of that role, he was probably good enough on the whole to land a major-league contract in free agency this winter.

Norris (2-6) allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out two over 3.1 innings to take the loss Saturday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Norris was called from the bullpen to make the start in this contest and although he was quite effective, the Angels were unable to provide enough early run support to take him off the hook for the loss. He'll be expected to have another short outing when he makes his last start of the season Thursday against the White Sox.

Norris will start Saturday against the Astros, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Andrew Heaney (shoulder) isn't ready to return, and that means the Angels will have to go with another bullpen game, headed by Norris, while in the midst of the wild-card hunt. Norris has struggled to an 8.84 ERA and 1.91 WHIP since the All-Star break and he only went two innings (21 pitches) last week in his first start of the season.

Norris will start Friday's contest against the Rangers, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Norris will make his first start of the season after being used exclusively as a reliever with the Angels. While he technically is starting, manager Mike Scioscia is likely to treat this as a bullpen game, so this news is unlikely to move the fantasy needle. Norris hasn't appeared in a game since being activated off the disabled list on Sept. 6, so he may have enough gas to log a few innings before ceding way to his fellow relievers.

Norris (knee) was activated from the disabled list Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Norris was brought off the DL on Wednesday. He'll likely see frequent use now that he's back in full health, but doesn't look to be a good source of saves as Blake Parker is being used as the Angels' primary ninth inning option. So far this season, Norris has pitched 51 innings over 54 games and posted a 4.41 ERA and 1.33 WHIP.

Norris (knee) is expected to be activated from the 10-day disabled list when first eligible to return Wednesday against the Athletics, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
After notching a save Aug. 20 before hitting the disabled list just over a week later, Norris wasn't completed removed from the closing conversation, but the recurrence of knee inflammation may have taken him out of the mix. Blake Parker has since emerged as the Angels' clear top option in the ninth inning, with Cam Bedrosian looking to be next in line for saves. That will probably relegate Norris to setup work once he returns, limiting his fantasy appeal outside of AL-only formats.

Norris, who was placed on the 10-day DL on Tuesday, is dealing with the same knee injury that plagued him earlier this season, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
He ended up missing just under two weeks earlier this season with knee inflammation, so if it is indeed a similar injury, he could return in mid September. Cam Bedrosian and Blake Parker had already seemingly passed Norris for the ninth-inning duties. There are probably better uses for a roster spot in most single-season fantasy formats at this point.

Norris was placed on the disabled list Tuesday, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear what Norris is dealing with, or when the issue cropped up on him, but it could help explain his brutal run of form over the past month. Over his last 13 appearances (dating back to July 25), Norris has blown two saves and compiled an abysmal 12.66 ERA and 2.34 WHIP. A timetable for his return should come into focus once the Angels provide more details regarding his status. Eric Young was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to take his place on the roster.
