Romine was released by the White Sox on Thursday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Romine will look for work elsewhere after failing to secure a spot on Chicago's Opening Day roster. The utility man most recently appeared in the majors in 2018, slashing .210/.260/.244 across 75 games with Seattle.

Romine is starting at second base and batting ninth in Friday's intrasquad game.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran infielder was held out of Thursday's intrasquad action due to a sore shoulder, but his quick return to the field indicates it was a minor concern. Romine is attempting to secure a roster spot in a utility role after joining the White Sox on a minor-league deal in January.

Romine is dealing with a sore shoulder, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
This helps explain Romine's absence from Thursday's intrasquad scrimmage. The 34-year-old, who signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox earlier in the year, is hoping to carve out a utility role for himself. He spent most of 2019 with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, slashing .289/.342/.408 with eight homers and 21 steals in 417 plate appearances.

The White Sox announced Monday that Romine will be included as part of the team's 60-man roster pool.
EDGE Analysis
Romine's positional flexibility should come in handy for the White Sox, though the 34-year-old probably isn't a serious candidate to see everyday at-bats at any point during the abbreviated season. Romine spent most of the 2019 campaign with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate at Lehigh Valley, slashing .289/.342/.408 with eight home runs and 21 steals across 417 plate appearances.

Romine signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Wednesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Romine spent the entire season in the minors last year after reaching the majors in the previous nine seasons. Over 106 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Romine hit .289/.342/.408 with eight home runs and 21 stolen bases. Given his past experience, it's likely that the 34-year-old will get to work in major-league spring training prior to the season.

Romine signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Monday, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Romine opted to return to Philadelphia after being cut loose by the team last week. The veteran utility man owns a career .235/.291/.301 slash line across parts of nine major-league seasons and figures to operate as organizational depth.

Romine was granted his release Thursday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Romine was always a long shot to break camp with the Phillies given the team's impressive depth. The utility man, who owns a career .235/.291/.301 triple-slash across parts of nine big-leagues seasons, will now search for major-league opportunities elsewhere.

Romine went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's game against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Romine has had a successful start to camp, going 5-for-16 with a home run, four RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in the early going. He'll continue to gun for a spot on the Opening Day roster as a utility man throughout spring training.

Romine signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Friday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Romine is the classic journeyman utility player. He's gotten at least some big-league time for nine straight seasons with three different organizations but owns just a .235/.291/.301 career line and has only once received at least 300 plate appearances. The only time he's posted a wRC+ greater than 71 came in just 21 plate appearances back in 2012. He's played all nine positions at some point in his career, giving him multiple avenues onto the roster, but he's unlikely to play a significant role in Philadelphia this season.

Romine went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run in a win over the Blue Jays on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Making a second consecutive start at the keystone in place of Dee Gordon (ankle), Romine found a way to be productive by showing a discerning eye at the plate. The versatile veteran crossed the plate with the first run of the plate for either club on Nelson Cruz's three-run home run in the third and has acquitted himself at the plate over a small sample in August thus far. Factoring in Sunday's production, Romine has been on base four times (a single, a double, two walks), notched an RBI and scored Sunday's run over three starts and one outing as an in-game defensive replacement.
