Romine will platoon with JaCoby Jones in center field to begin the season, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not entirely clear at this point what the playing time split will be, as manager Brad Ausmus said Jones will play against lefties and "certain" righties. The organization has said it wants the 23-year-old Jones to play regularly, so Romine will likely be on the smaller side of the platoon. And when J.D. Martinez returns to right field in 3-4 weeks, Tyler Collins and Mikie Mahtook will likely slide into the center field mix, as they're covering for Martinez to begin the year.

Romine could get some regular playing time in center field to begin the season, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers will be without right fielder J.D. Martinez for 3-4 weeks, which means Mikie Mahtook and Tyler Collins, who were penciled into a center field platoon, could get some time in right. If that's the case, Romine and JaCoby Jones are candidates to start in center field. Romine appeared in 22 games there a season ago, though he doesn't offer much with the bat for fantasy purposes.

Romine should once again serve in a super utility role for the Tigers this season, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Romine brought eight different gloves to spring training, and the Tigers want him to break them all in. Last season, Romine appeared at all four infield positions and all three outfield positions, so he gives the team a lot of versatility off the bench. However, he's a career .240 hitter with very minimal power (six career home runs in seven MLB seasons), so he's not a great fantasy asset.

Romine signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Tigers on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Romine is coming off a season where he hit .236 and just two home runs. The veteran does bring a versatile skill set to the defensive side with his ability to play multiple positions in both the infield and outfield, so he should get plenty of action again in 2017 with the Tigers.

Romine is out of the lineup Sunday against the Indians, Jason Beck of MBlogs.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Romine sitting out, Erick Aybar will get the nod to start at the hot corner and hit seventh Sunday afternoon. Romine has improved at the plate recently, as he's hitting .310/.394/.414 over the last 14 games.

Romine went 2-for-4 with a RBI double and one run scored Sunday against the Royals. He also stole a base.
EDGE Analysis
Romine has hit .389 (7-for-18) and driven in six runs since August 24. He continues to spell off Tigers around the diamond -- he now has at least five games of eligibility at all infield spots, plus outfield. Romine's versatility is valuable between the lines, but he doesn't hit enough when he does get at-bats to make him a worthy add.

Romine is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Erick Aybar will start at shortstop and bat ninth as Romine heads to the bench. Romine has gone 3-for-8 with three RBI over Detroit's last two games, but owns a subpar batting average of .224 for the season.

Romine is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Romine will take a seat to make room for Cameron Maybin (thumb), who was activated by the Tigers on Sunday. Despite making four straight starts in center field, the switch-hitting utility man looks to be headed back to a reserve role. He hasn't done himself any favors with his bat, as Romine owns a .458 OPS since Aug. 1.

Romine has a slash line of .225/.310/.315 as a super-utility player for the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
He has one HR, six RBI, nine walks and 23 strikeouts in 89 at-bats. Romine can play all over the diamond, but his lack of production in limited at-bats make him non-viable as a fantasy option.

Romine went 2-for-3 with a double, one stolen base and one RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over Toronto. He was also hit by a pitch.
EDGE Analysis
Romine is a defensive replacement who got a rare start at short and made the most of it. His .222/.310/.270 slash line doesn't inspire confidence in fantasy, but he suits the Tigers just fine between the chalk lines.
