Bailey will make his 2017 Cactus League debut Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old remains in competition with Huston Street and Cam Bedrosian (groin) to close at the start of 2017. Consider Bailey the dark horse, due to Street's name recognition and the breakout Bedrosian enjoyed in his 2016 stint. Still, there's enough holding back the other two that Bailey can't be eliminated off the bat, so AL-only fantasy players could land some surprise saves if they take a chance with few strings attached.

Bailey is expected to compete with Huston Street and Cam Bedrosian for the closer job this spring, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Street has the experience and the big contract while Bedrosian has the best stuff, so Bailey would seem like the third wheel in the competition, but he was very good after signing on with the Angels in August (2.38 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, six saves). Keep in mind too that both Street and Bedrosian have had health concerns recently.

Bailey signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Angels on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
He will likely operate out of the seventh inning, acting as a bridge to Huston Street and Cam Bedrosian. There are also additional incentives in the contract, presumably if he ends up closing games. Bailey posted a 2.38 ERA and 8:2 K:BB in 11.1 innings out of the Angels' bullpen in 2016.

Bailey earned his sixth save with a scoreless ninth Monday against Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey is a perfect six-for-six in save opportunities since taking over Sept. 4 and has only given up three runs since then, all in a non-save situation. He has just six strikeouts in 9.1 innings, but has walked just one batter. Given his past experience as closer and his success this September, expect somebody to give him a shot to either close or play a setup role come 2017.

Bailey allowed a hit and struck out a batter en route to collecting his fourth save of the season Wednesday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey allowed three runs in just 0.1 innings in an outing against the Blue Jays last week, but the 32-year-old hasn't allowed a run in any of his other seven appearances with his new club. Bailey will seemingly be the closer in Anaheim for the rest of the season, making him worth an add if he was overlooked due to the chaos in the Angels' bullpen.

Bailey pitched a clean ninth inning in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners, striking out one to record his third save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey retired all three batters he faced, striking out Nomar Mazara looking to end the game. The 2009 AL Rookie of the Year has emerged as a late-season source of saves following the trade of Fernando Salas to the New York Mets. Although Bailey struggled earlier in the year with Philadelphia, posting a 6.40 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, he has allowed only one baserunner in four appearances with Los Angeles. With Huston Street and Cam Bedrosian both done for the year, Bailey appears to be the team's primary closer for the rest of the season.

Bailey struck out two in a perfect ninth for his second save Monday against Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey has thrown consecutive perfect innings since taking over the closer's role from the departed Fernando Salas on Sunday. He has had his struggles this year -- most notably a ludicrous 24.55 ERA in July before he was sent down to the minors -- but Bailey has three seasons of at least 24 saves, so he is no stranger to handling the ninth inning.

Bailey pitched a perfect inning to earn his first save with the Angels Sunday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
After the Angels have had a revolving door at the closer spot over the last month, Bailey cashed in on his first chance since being recalled from Triple-A on September 2. However, the seven-year veteran has posted a 6.03 ERA or higher in three of his last four seasons, so he's not a lock to be a consistent source of saves down the stretch.

Bailey was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels signed Bailey to a minor league deal in August, and after he posted a 2.00 ERA and 11:3 K:BB in nine innings at Triple-A, they rewarded him with a September call-up. If Bailey could carve out a high-leverage role in any big league bullpen, it might be with the Angels, as they are on their fourth closer in a month. That said, it's more likely he settles into a middle relief role.

Bailey signed a minor league contract with the Angels on Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
A closer candidate with the Phillies in spring training, Bailey missed a chunk of the season due to injury -- a familiar theme throughout his career. Bailey returned last September after missing more than two years due to shoulder troubles. He will report to Triple-A Salt Lake but could earn a promotion if he fares well in the weeks ahead.
