Bailey has been shut down and moved to extended spring training with a shoulder issue, The Westchester Journal News reports. Bailey had begun the season in High-A Tampa and had been able to pitch in back-to-back games last week, but it appears the same shoulder that he underwent surgery on in 2013 is once again causing issues. General manager Brian Cashman indicated that the club didn't have a clear timetable for when Bailey would even be able to get back on a mound, so at this point it's hard to imagine him being a factor on the big league roster at any point this season.

Bailey will begin the season at High-A Tampa as he continues to rehab from shoulder surgery, Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News reports. Bailey was a candidate to crack the big league roster despite not having pitched since July of 2013, but only pitched five innings in the spring and never appeared in back-to-back days, so the club elected to keep him down in the minors to get more work early on. If he can continue to get through a heavier workload without any setbacks, the 30-year-old could join the team toward the end of April.

Bailey will make his first spring appearance in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Braves. Bailey is attempting to come back after undergoing shoulder surgery in July of 2013, and will be fighting to earn a spot in the bullpen for Opening Day. He'll likely be on a strict pitch count in his first appearance, but getting through game action without any pain would be an encouraging step toward being ready for the start of the season.

Bailey threw 20 pitches in a simulated game, reporting "things are really going well," the NY Post reports. It was Bailey's first action since undergoing shoulder surgery in July of 2013 as he'll try to earn a roster spot in the bullpen for Opening Day. The 30-year-old remains optimistic that he'll make the big league team, but he'll likely have to prove himself in live spring action first. The plan is to pitch in another simulated game Saturday before making a Grapefruit League appearance.

Bailey will be on the mound this spring with an opportunity to win a bullpen spot with the Yankees, the Westchester Journal News reports. Under a minor league deal, Bailey could wind up at Triple-A if he has any setbacks with his arm this spring, but he's presumably healthy and progressing through an offseason throwing program leading into spring training.

Bailey (shoulder) has agreed to a minor league contract with the Yankees, LoHud.com reports. The Yankees declined the team option they held on Bailey's contract for 2015, but they still wanted to keep him around. Bailey will likely get a chance to compete for a bullpen job during spring training, as long as he is healthy.

Bailey (shoulder) is not expected to return to the big leagues this season, MLB.com reports. Bailey had surgery on his shoulder last July, but there was some hope he'd be able to make a return toward the end of the season. The 30-year-old has suffered setbacks in rehabbing the shoulder, ending any chance of a major league return in 2014.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday that Andrew Bailey (shoulder) could return in September. Bailey is still rehabbing at the team's spring training complex following surgery last July to repair his labrum and shoulder capsule. Obviously, it's always a rough timetable when anyone is coming back from a major shoulder operation. The Yankees certainly aren't counting on anything from the former closer.

Andrew Bailey (shoulder) has progressed to throwing off flat ground. Bailey, who signed a minor league deal with the Yankees in February, has reached 50 throws at a distance of 90 feet and expects to stretch out to 120 feet next week. Coming off major shoulder surgery, he's unlikely to contribute until late in the season.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Sunday that Andrew Bailey (shoulder) isn't expected to be available until September. The Yanks inked Bailey to a minor league deal Saturday, but it sounds like they're not expecting much of a contribution from him this season. The reliever underwent surgery in July to repair his labrum and shoulder capsule and has yet to do any throwing. Bailey posted a 3.77 ERA and 39/12 K/BB ratio over 28 2/3 innings last year for the Red Sox.
