Rodriguez went 1-for-4 in Sunday's win over the Mariners with a two-run shot, his second home run of the season.
EDGE Analysis
He also struck out twice, and his slash line on the season remains an anemic .118/.231/.294, but the homer may be a sign Rodriguez is coming out of early season slump.

Rodriguez is hitting sixth in the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Rodriguez has typically occupied the three-hole, but he's struggled mightily, going 0-for-19 since hitting a home run last Sunday. The 40-year-old doesn't seem to be in serious jeopardy to lose out on his full-time DH role, but if he continues to struggle, manager Joe Girardi could continue slotting him lower in the lineup.

Rodriguez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees are rolling with a lineup mainly filled with regulars Friday, but Rodriguez went 0-for-11 over his last three games and is just 2-for-10 against Mariners starter Nathan Karns, so manager Joe Girardi decided to hold him out Friday. Dustin Ackley will serve as the Yankees' designated hitter in Rodriguez's place.

Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Saturday's 8-4 victory over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran slugger connected on a two-out Mike Pelfrey offering in the first inning to open the scoring. Rodriguez now has three hits over the last two games, and has reached base in all five contests that he's participated in this season. The 40-year-old's start lends credence to the fact that he could serve as a viable source of offense this season.

Rodriguez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers, according to Newsday's Erik Boland.
EDGE Analysis
Rodriguez notched his first two hits of the season Thursday, but manager Joe Girardi still felt it was time to give Rodriguez his first day off of the season. Mark Teixeira will serve as the Yankees' designated hitter Friday in Rodriguez's place.

Rodriguez claims his comments Wednesday about retiring after 2017 were taken out of context and that he has not made any formal retirement decisions, Kevin Kernan of the New York Post reports. "I'm thinking in terms of my contract which ends in 2017. After that, we'll see what happens. I've got two years and more than 300 games to play," said Rodriguez.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran slugger caused a stir Wednesday when he implied that he would retire at the end of the 2017 season, but he has denied having any formal plans to retire. Rodriguez has two more seasons left on his contract and is owed $21 million in each of those seasons. After being suspended for the entire 2014 season, Rodriguez proved that he can still play at a high level last year by clubbing 33 home runs, driving in 86 runs, and slashing .244/.348/.423.

Rodriguez plans to retire after the 2017 season, Andrew Marchand of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Through his first 21 seasons, Rodriguez has 687 home runs and is a .297 hitter. While much will be talked about in the coming years about Rodriguez's career, the now-full-time DH experienced a renaissance in the first part of the season before slowing down by the end of the summer and into the home stretch of the season. On an aging Yankees roster, Rodriguez's at-bats could be limited by the need to rest other players, but he should break the 700 home run plateau this season and could catch Babe Ruth's 714 by the time all is said and done.

Rodriguez will sit out of Wednesday's spring training opener but he will be available for Thursday and Saturday's games, Meredith Marakovits of the YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran designated hitter will get a scheduled day off Wednesday before making his spring training debut the following day. Marakovits' report suggests that the Yankees will try to avoid playing Rodriguez on back-to-back days early on in their spring training schedule to keep him fresh and give more at-bats to their unproven players.

Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a homer, two walks and two runs against the Red Sox on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
It was the first "A-bomb for A-Rod" in more than two weeks, dating back to Sept. 15, and the slumping Rodriguez had picked up only five hits in between long balls. Still, fantasy owners who bought in this spring have been richly rewarded to the tune of 33 homers on the year, and even though he's hitting only .217 since the All-Star break, the power has still largely been there outside of his horrendous month of August. He's definitely the leading 40-year-old in baseball.

Rodriguez is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Rodriguez will pick up some rest for Sunday's matinee, paving the way for Carlos Beltran to move over to DH in the series finale. The 40-year-old recorded just one hit in nine at-bats over the previous three games in the series.
