Rodriguez has two more seasons left on his contract and is owed $21 million in each of those seasons. While much will be talked about in the coming years about Rodriguez's career, the now-full-time DH experienced a renaissance in the first part of the season before slowing down by the end of the summer and into the home stretch of the season. On an aging Yankees roster, Rodriguez's at-bats could be limited by the need to rest other players, but he should break the 700 home run plateau this season and could catch Babe Ruth's 714 by the time all is said and done.

Rodriguez will sit out of Wednesday's spring training opener but he will be available for Thursday and Saturday's games, Meredith Marakovits of the YES Network reports.

Marakovits' report suggests that the Yankees will try to avoid playing Rodriguez on back-to-back days early on in their spring training schedule to keep him fresh and give more at-bats to their unproven players.
