Rodriguez has taken back the DH role for the Yankees since returning from the DL on May 26, but he's yet to make much of an impact, going 14-for-61 (.230 average) with two homers and nine RBI. His absence from the lineup Sunday is probably due to rest more than anything else, but Rodriguez could begin to lose out on at-bats more regularly if he doesn't get hot in the near future.

The 40-year-old's average is still a lowly .211, but he's hitting .381 with three RBI in the five-game span since being benched in consecutive contests.

Rodriguez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.

With an 0-for-14 career mark against Blue Jays starter J.A Happ, Rodriguez will get his second day off in a row Tuesday. Carlos Beltran will get to take over the DH spot against Happ while Rob Refsnyder draws the start in right field. Rodriguez figures to rejoin the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against righty Aaron Sanchez.

Rodriguez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Rodriguez is 1-for-16 with nine strikeouts since returning to action last Thursday, so manager Joe Girardi decided to give him a day to clear his head. Carlos Beltran will serve as the Yankees' designated hitter Monday with Rodriguez out of the lineup.

AROD just returned from the disabled list on Thursday, and was able to provide a little pop as his sixth inning home run broke a scoreless tie and propelled the Yankees to a win. While he has six homers and 14 RBI, he struggled earlier in the year as underscored by his .188 average, so perhaps the time off will help him get his bat started.

His return was pushed back almost a week, as it took him a while to get comfortable running the bases, but the Yankees now have their regular DH back in the mix. With Mark Teixeira ailing, Rodriguez brings a much-needed power threat back to the middle of the order. He is unlikely to come close to last year's unforeseen production, but he's also unlikely to be as bad as he was before hitting the DL, as his .191 BABIP indicates.
