Reed cited a delivery flaw as the reason for his struggles in an outing Friday in which he allowed six runs on six hits against Houston, the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Early Sunday morning, Reed was working with pitching coach Dan Warthen to stop the problem, which entailed Reed leaking toward first base. According to Warthen, the issue has been fixed. Reed also said he is ready to step into the closer role if needed if MLB suspends Jeurys Familia for his involvement in a domestic violence case in late October.

Reed got hammered for six runs on six hits, including home runs by A.J. Reed and Colin Moran, in two-thirds of an inning during Friday's split-squad game against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
One of his two outs did come via strikeout, but there wasn't much to like about this outing for Reed. He hadn't fared much better in his previous spring appearances either, and he now sports an ugly 16.20 ERA and 2.40 WHIP through five Grapefruit League innings. The Mets will be looking for the 28-year-old to fill in at closer during Jeurys Familia's expected suspension, but if Reed can't turn things around over the next couple of weeks, the team may have to consider some other options for ninth inning duty in April.

Reed agreed to a one-year, $7.75 million contract with the Mets on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reed revitalized his career in 2016 after a disappointing tenure in Arizona. He posted a 1.97 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 while leading the majors with 40 holds. Now 28, Reed is locked in as the Mets' top setup man -- he would be the obvious choice to step into the closer role should Jeurys Familia be suspended or get injured.

Reed continues to rack up holds, notching his 32nd of the year in the Mets' win Saturday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Reed has been phenomenal since coming to the Mets last August. He has a 1.98 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 75:12 K:BB ratio in 62.2 innings. Reed has shown some cracks in the armor lately, possibly due to overuse, as he had pitched in 65 games, but will likely be ridden hard down the stretch by manager Terry Collins with the team in the Wild Card hunt.

Reed tossed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Reed lowered his ERA to 1.88 on the year with the effort. Save for a blip Monday against the Yankees, Reed has been phenomenal out of the pen for the Mets. He benefitted from some poor baserunning by the Tigers in the eighth inning on Sunday and earned the win thanks to Neil Walker's ninth-inning home run.

Reed, who has served as Jeurys Familia's set-up man all season, has the 7th-lowest ERA (2.16) and the 7th-lowest batting average against (.189) among major-league relievers.
EDGE Analysis
Reed's turnaround came May 15 of last season when he was moved from the third-base to first-base side of the rubber. Last year after the change, he posted 41:15 K:BB over 46 innings while holding opposing hitters to a .244/.304/.369 line and just two home runs. Reed has been even better this year and will continue to used heavily by manager Terry Collins the last two-plus months of the season.

Reed will be the Mets' likely closer in Saturday's matchup with Milwaukee, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reed will assume closing duties Saturday according to Mets' manager Terry Collins due to Juerys Familia throwing innings the last three days. Reed should be a capable replacement as, before giving up an errant earned run in Friday's game, he had not allowed one in 16 straight appearances. The 27-year-old should revert back to his setup man role once Familia gets a day or two of rest.

Reed picked his eighth hold of the season, tossing a scoreless eighth in the Mets' 2-0 win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Reed has settled in quite well as the bridge to Jeurys Familia. While he won't notch many saves due to Familia's presence. Reed should be a decent source of strikeouts along with a solid ERA and WHIP. His resurgence can be traced to his move from the third-base to first-base side of the rubber last May 15.

Reed notched his fifth hold of the year Tuesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Reed is the clear set-up man for Jeurys Famila, and for the most part, he has been solid in that role. The scoreless inning lowered his ERA to 2.45 and he has a 14:2 K:BB ratio in 11 games. If Reed can continue to throws strikes and get ahead of hitters, as he has done since coming to the Mets last August, he should continue to be a nice source of holds and counting stats.

Reed blew a hold opportunity in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Once considered an elite closer, Reed has really struggled to find his place since joining the Mets last season. Not only is a save opportunity rarely granted to the right-hander, but holding games hasn't become a forte so far. Reed should have plenty of opportunities to hold games, but the only way that he would become valuable in most formats would be in the event of an injury to current closer Jeurys Familia.
