Reed nailed down his second save of the season on Sunday, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning versus the Padres. Shockingly it was his first save since the second game of the season, a drought that lasted over a month. Reed's ERA now sits at an even 4.00 for the year and chances are he doesn't have to wait a month for another save, as the Diamondbacks have played better baseball of late.

Reed worked a clean inning in a non-save situation, striking out one, in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against Colorado. Clean outings have been few and far between for Reed this year - this was just the second time in eight appearances that he didn't allow a run or a batter to reach base. He hadn't pitched in more than a week, which hopefully gave him time to sort out his early season issues. The D-Backs haven't generated a lot of save chances yet this year, but Reed's save total should look a lot like it did last year when all is said and done.

Reed took the loss Saturday against the Pirates when he gave up a run on three hits in the top of the ninth of a tie game. He struck out one in the outing. This was just Reed's sixth appearance of the season, but he has not performed all that well, yielding eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings pitched, leaving him an ugly 2.20 WHIP. There shouldn't be any reason to worry about his grip on the closer role as he is suffering from a .468 BABIP, while he has yet to give up a home run, which has been one of his main issues in the past.

Reed blew the save Thursday against the Giants as he lasted only 0.2 innings, giving up two hits, two walks and a run. With the Diamondbacks up one, Buster Posey reached on an infield single before Reed got the next two outs. Joe Panik then tripled in Posey before Reed walked the next two batters. Reed left the game with the bases loaded and two outs and was relieved by Andrew Chafin, who struck out Nori Aoki to end the inning.

Reed (shoulder) appeared in Tuesday's win over the Giants and recorded his first save of the year, striking out two batters in the ninth. Reed missed some time in Spring Training, but seems good to go now. Last season he saw the majority of the save opportunities for the Diamondbacks, appearing in 62 games and picking up 32 saves. However, his numbers jumped up from 2013, finishing with a 1.21 WHIP and 4.25 ERA.

Reed (shoulder) made his third consecutive scoreless appearance of the spring Tuesday. He appears to be on track to be ready for Opening Day. Reed could still make another two or three appearances before Cactus League play wraps up, though it's unclear if he will be used on back-to-back days before the start of the regular season.

Reed (shoulder) said that he's felt normal during his live batting practice sessions and bullpen work this spring. Additionally, he's certain that he will be ready for the D-backs' Opening Day game against the Giants, the Arizona Republic reports. Last season, Reed struggled with the command of his slider, which could become a useful pitch for him again in 2015 if the mechanical adjustments he's made to his delivery allow him to repeat it more consistently. Additionally, the hope is that the adjustment will lessen the strain on Reed's shoulder. He's consistently available after the first 20 closers are taken off the board in drafts this spring, offering up profit potential if he's able to stay healthy and keep hitters from sitting back on his fastball this season.

Reed (shoulder) threw a scoreless inning in a B' game against the Cubs on Tuesday morning, according to the Arizona Republic. Reed threw 13 pitches to four batters, striking out the last batter he faced with a slider. His fastball ranged from 88-90 mph. This is an encouraging sign for Reed as he tries to prepare for Opening Day after being slowed by a shoulder ailment this spring.

D-backs manager Chip Hale said Reed (shoulder) "looked great" while facing live hitters for the first time this spring Friday, the Arizona Republic reports. It's expected that he Reed will appear in a minor league game in the coming days. The D-backs remains optimistic that Reed will be ready to pitch on Opening Day.

Reed (shoulder) is scheduled to face live hitters in a batting practice session Friday, the Arizona Republic reports. If that session goes as planned, Reed could pitch in a minor league game Tuesday. Considering that the D-backs don't have a timetable for him to appear in a big league spring training game, Reed should be considered questionable for Opening Day until he takes another big step forward in his progress from the injury.
