Escobar racked up two singles, a double and a walk in five plate appearances Tuesday against Texas.
EDGE Analysis
That makes four consecutive multi-hit games -- a spell in which he's gone a ridiculous 11-for-17 with three doubles and a homer -- for Escobar, who's thriving at the top of Anaheim's lineup. With this hot start, he appears fairly well guaranteed to make another run at hitting .300, but Escobar's limited power and speed have always held him back in fantasy.

Escobar went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in a wild 10-9 comeback victory over the Mariners on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old continues to rake, as he's batting .414 in the early going and has only one hitless performance in the first seven games to start the year. Escobar makes a lot of contact and will sport a high average, but that's really all he does well for fantasy owners, making him more of a corner infielder in AL-only leagues.

Escobar went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and his first home run of the season in a 5-4 win over Seattle on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar continues to lead off for the Angels despite not possessing traditional leadoff hitter qualities. The veteran third baseman has excelled in the role, reaching base 12 times and scoring seven times in his 26 plate appearances so far this season. Saturday's homer was just his second extra-base hit this season, so fantasy owners shouldn't expect more than a solid batting average and run production from the 34-year-old.

Escobar batted leadoff for the Angels in their Opening Day loss to the Athletics. He collected two hits in four at-bats.
EDGE Analysis
The third baseman spent the majority of the 2016 season acting as the Angels' leadoff hitter despite not possessing traditional leadoff hitter qualities. Even with the Angels bringing in Cameron Maybin -- seemingly a better fit to bat atop the order -- Escobar remains at the top of the lineup. The 34-year-old only registered 68 runs in 567 plate appearances last season despite getting on base at a .355 clip, so there is no guarantee that he will generate a ton of runs, likely due to his sub-par speed. The veteran should hit for a strong batting average, but none of his other skills stand out, limiting his value to deeper formats.

Escobar went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran third baseman has been in and out of the lineup this spring while tending to visa issues as well as minor abdomen injury last week. The results haven't been there (.191 batting average), but Monday's homer could be the spark he needs before Opening Day. Escobar figures to see the majority of starts at the hot corner for the Angels, and he is still a candidate to lead off for manager Mike Scioscia after manning that spot in the lineup with regularity this spring. With little power and speed to offer, the 34-year-old is simply an empty batting average at this point of his career, but he could see an uptick in runs from last year (68) if he does end up being the club's leadoff man for the entirety of the season.

Escobar (abdomen) will start at third base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's split-squad game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels held Escobar out for the last couple of days with a minor abdominal strain, but the team felt comfortable clearing him to play Wednesday. It's likely his brief absence was only precautionary and he shouldn't face any complications heading into Opening Day.

Escobar was scratched from Tuesday's lineup, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar was originally set to return to action on Tuesday after he missed a few games over the weekend dealing with an abdominal strain, but he was removed from the lineup for undisclosed reasons beforehand. It's possible that it's related to the abdominal injury that kept him out for a little, but it won't be known until the Angels update his status. In the meantime, consider the 34-year-old day-to-day.

Escobar (abdomen) is back in the Angels' lineup Tuesday, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
An abdominal strain cost Escobar a couple starts over the weekend, but he's back manning third base and leading off for the Halos. Escobar has been hitting primarily out of the leadoff spot this spring, as he did last year. While Escobar may not fit the mold of a typical leadoff hitter -- he doesn't draw many walks and he doesn't have any speed to speak of -- he at least puts the ball in play consistently.

Escobar was scratched from Saturday's lineup with a mild abdominal strain, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jefry Marte is manning third base and batting seventh in Escobar's absence, with Kole Calhoun atop the order. Escobar has gotten off to a slow start at the plate this spring, but he continues to lead off regularly for the Halos. All but two of Escobar's at-bats last season came from out of the leadoff spot.

Escobar (personal) will man third base and bat leadoff in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar had been unavailable for the past two days while he became officially naturalized as a United States citizen, but he's since rejoined the Angels and will occupy his familiar position. It appears the team will deploy Escobar as their leadoff hitter to begin the season, where his on-base skills should make him an effective table setter. Just don't expect much production from him in the power department or on the basepaths.
