Escobar went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored Sunday against Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar led off the bottom of the first with a long ball off lefty Sean Manaea. While that was his first home run against left-handed pitching this season, the third baseman's .340 average in that split suggests his success here wasn't unexpected. He's slashing .274/.333/.397 overall.

Escobar (back) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the A's, batting leadoff and playing third base.
EDGE Analysis
A back injury kept Escobar on the bench for the last two games, but the down time has allowed the ailment to heal up and now he's ready to get back in the lineup. He'll hit out of the leadoff spot against Jharel Cotton. Escobar's return will bump Luis Valbuena back to the bench.

Escobar (back) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar will get another day to rest up as he continues to nurse a tight back. He'll remain day-to-day for now, while Luis Valbuena will again start at the hot corner in his stead.

Escobar (back) is not in the lineup Wednesday against Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar will get the day off after exiting Tuesday's contest with back tightness in the eighth inning. The third baseman felt his back tighten up a few times over the course of the game, and manager Mike Scioscia won't risk any sort of additional setback during Wednesday's game. Escobar should still be considered day-to-day moving forward, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he's held out of Thursday's series finale. In his place, Luis Valbuena draws the start at the hot corner, while C.J. Cron takes over at first.

Escobar was removed in the eighth inning of Tuesday's win over the Phillies after he experienced tightness in his back; he is being considered day-to-day, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The third baseman went 2-for-4 with a run scored prior to his exit. Escobar said he felt his back tighten up earlier in the game, so the fact that he wasn't immediately removed hints that the injury isn't considered serious. We should learn more about his status prior to Wednesday's contest.

Escobar batted leadoff Wednesday, going 2-for-5 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored in a win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
With Cameron Maybin (knee) landing on the disabled list, Escobar returned to the leadoff spot after starting the year there. The 34-year-old isn't much more than a batting average booster at this stage of his career, but he could see a few more opportunities to improve on his mark of 37 runs until Maybin returns.

Escobar went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
It was his first big blast since May 9, encompassing a stretch of 36 games. Escobar is still hitting a useful .288/.346/.755 slash line for the year, but he's been a drain on owners expecting power. Still, he'll often, if not consistently, hit in a spot near the top of the Angels' lineup even after Mike Trout (thumb) returns, so that counts for something.

Escobar (thumb) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Monday against the Dodgers, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar is good to go after missing a pair of games over the weekend due to a left thumb strain. The 34-year-old, who is slashing .280/.331/.415 in 58 games this season, will face southpaw Rich Hill in his return to the lineup Monday.
