Chen allowed two runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 4.1 innings in a no-decision Wednesday against St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
Chen has completed the fifth inning just three times in eight starts this season. When a walk and a single left Chen at 91 pitches with one out in the fifth, the Marlins knew his night needed to end before the four-run lead they had built dissipated into nothing. Chen induced seven groundballs, but three of the six he gave up went for extra bases, and he has reliever Drew Rucinski to thank for cleaning up his mess in the fifth. Chen owns a 5.86 ERA and will look to pick up his first win since his first start of the season when he takes the mound again Monday against the Giants.

Chen allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five across 5.1 innings Sunday as he didn't factor into the decision against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Chen put together one of his better outings of the year, but his bullpen failed him as the Marlins blew a five-run ninth-inning lead. The 32-year-old left-hander has had a rough start to the 2018 season, sitting at 1-2 with a 6.55 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over 22 innings. Alarmingly, opposing batters are hitting .282 against Chen, which is something he'll have to correct if he hopes to find success in his next start, which figures to come Saturday against the Nationals.

Chen tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Dodgers, allowing three hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Chen was able to keep the visitors off the board despite several baserunners, but an elevated early pitch count led to his removal with one out in the fifth. He threw just 57 percent of his pitches for strikes and now has an 9:11 K:BB ratio on the season. Chen also has an unimpressive 7.56 ERA, which he will look to improve on Sunday against the Braves.

Chen (1-2) took the loss against the Cubs on Wednesday, surrendering nine runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over three innings while striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander threw 39 of 68 pitches for strikes but was clearly catching too much of the plate, as in addition to the homers Chen served up two doubles and a triple. He'll take a disastrous 10.22 ERA into his next outing Tuesday at home against the Dodgers.

Chen (1-1) took the loss against the Reds on Friday, allowing our runs on five hits and four walks over four innings while striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander threw only 47 of 82 pitches for strikes in his second outing of the season, and when he did find the strike zone he got hit hard -- four of Cincinnati's five hits went for extra bases, including homers by Adam Duvall and Eugenio Suarez. Chen will look for a better result in his next start Wednesday on the road against the Cubs.

Chen (1-0) picked up the win over the Rockies on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
It was hardly a dominant outing by the left-hander, who threw 43 of 68 pitches for strikes and generated only four swinging strikes on the night, but Chen kept Rockies hitters off-balance for five innings before hitting the showers after serving up a solo shot to Charlie Blackmon. The bullpen then stepped up with 3.2 no-hit frames to preserve the win in Chen's first start in almost a full year. The Marlins will be cautious with his workload, which could make this win a rare event if he continues to get quick hooks, but his next start is scheduled for Friday in Cincinnati.

Chen (elbow) was activated off the 10-day disabled list and will start Saturday against the Rockies, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chen has made two rehab starts with High-A Jupiter and was originally expected to require one more, but instead will join the Marlins for Saturday's game against the Rockies. The 32-year-old topped out at 73 pitches in his last rehab outing, and it remains unclear what type of restrictions -- if any -- the Marlins will have on him during his first start.

Chen (elbow) will need to complete at least one more bullpen session before the Marlins activate him from the disabled list and get him back in the rotation, Doug Padilla of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Previous reports suggested Chen would take the mound Saturday against the Rockies, but manager Don Matting;y refused to confirm that timetable Wednesday. The left-hander looked very good in a rehab start at High-A Jupiter on Sunday, but the Marlins will be cautious with him nonetheless given that he hasn't started a big-league game in almost a calendar year. Depending on when the bullpen session takes place and how Chen performs in it, he could be back in the majors either this weekend or early next week.

Chen (elbow) will be activated from the disabled list and start Saturday's game against the Rockies, Craig Mish of Sirius XM reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chen is set to make his first start of the 2018 campaign after missing the first several weeks of the season rehabbing his injured throwing elbow. Chen made two rehab starts with High-A Jupiter, allowing one run over 7.2 innings with an 11:1 K:BB. The lefty's return will likely cause Dillon Peters or Trevor Richards to be bumped from the Marlins' rotation.

Chen (elbow) made his second rehab start with High-A Jupiter on Sunday, turning in five scoreless innings and striking out seven. He conceded two hits and walked none in the 73-pitch outing.
EDGE Analysis
Chen was supremely efficient in the outing, pumping in 60 of his pitches for strikes and generating four groundouts while giving up only two harmless singles. The lefty is expected to require at least one more start in the minors, but he seems to be trending toward an early-May return from the 10-day disabled list. Dan Straily (forearm) is slightly ahead of Chen in his rehab and looks on track to come off the DL as soon as the weekend, putting underperforming starters Dillon Peters and Trevor Richards at major risk of losing their rotation spots within the next two weeks.
