Chen (elbow) received "encouraging news" from his MRI results, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although a diagnosis was not provided by the Marlins, apparently nothing new of significance was found during the exam. Chen suffered a setback during his bullpen session last weekend and will need more time before returning to the Marlins, but it sounds like he will return this season and continue pitching through his slight UCL tear.

Chen (elbow) may undergo an MRI on Monday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty has already undergone Tommy John surgery once during his time in Japan, and Chen's attempts to pitch through a slight tear in his UCL may have backfired on him if the MRI results indicate the issue has gotten worse. He'll likely look for a second opinion on his elbow after further testing is done.

Chen (elbow) had a setback during his bullpen session Saturday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins were encouraged following Chen's bullpen session Wednesday, but the lefty was forced to shut it down 15-20 pitches into Saturday's session due to renewed discomfort. It's uncertain what the plan is from here for Chen. He had been pitching through a partial UCL tear since the end of last season and receiving special treatment between each start.

Chen (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Craig Davis of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chen had his elbow re-examined Thursday, and although the results of that haven't been disclosed, the fact that he's throwing another bullpen session so soon seems to be a good sign for his health. No timetable has been revealed for his return, but if everything goes as planned in Saturday's outing, there's a chance he could rejoin the Marlins' rotation when they need a fifth starter next week.

Chen (elbow) completed a bullpen session Wednesday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chen said that he would have his elbow reexamined by team trainers Thursday before a determination is reached on a potential return date. The Marlins have already ruled out Chen from returning this weekend, but if all goes well when he's reassessed Thursday, the lefty could be cleared to return to the mound when a fifth starter is needed next week.

Manager Don Mattingly said that Chen (elbow) won't be activated from the 10-day disabled list Friday when eligible, Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins placed Chen on the disabled list May 5 with what was labeled as a case of "tired arm," but the team has since reclassified the injury as an elbow issue. According to Navarro, Chen indicated that he's not feeling any serious pain in the elbow and will throw a live bullpen session Wednesday, so it doesn't sound as though he's too far off a return. Jose Urena, who threw six shutout innings against the Mes on Sunday, will likely fill in for Chen again Friday against the Braves.

Chen was placed on the 10-day DL on Friday with "tired arm," Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins announced earlier in the day Friday that Chen was scratched from his next scheduled start, but they did not immediately provide a reason. Apparently Chen's battling some fatigue, though manager Don Mattingly has already said that he expects Chen to be good to go the next time through the rotation. Odrisamer Despaigne was recalled in a corresponding move and will presumably start in place of Chen on Saturday.

Chen will not make his scheduled start Saturday against the Mets, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins did not provide a reason for Chen's scratch nor did they name a replacement for Saturday. However, manager Don Mattingly said Chen will likely take his next turn in the rotation, suggesting there is no injury in play. Odrisamer Despaigne, who is on the 40-man roster, is currently listed as the probable starter for Triple-A New Orleans on Saturday.

Chen (2-1) gave up two runs on two hits and four walks while striking out seven over six innings in Monday's loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
It was the left-hander's third quality start in five outings, shaving his ERA down to 4.33 and his WHIP to 1.19. Chen will next take the mound Saturday on the road against the Mets.

Chen (2-1) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Phillies. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
A Maikel Franco grand slam in the third inning, as well as a lack of run support, doomed Chen to his first loss of the season. The left-hander has been alternating strong starts with shakier ones to begin the year, putting him in line to rebound Monday at home against the Rays.
