Snider went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in Monday's win over the Rays. Snider started in right field and hit fifth in the order. He figures to drop to sixth with Chris Davis returning from suspension and there could be occasional days off in a time share with Steve Pearce, Alejandro De Aza and Delmon Young. However, if he extends his hot start he could secure every day playing time.

The Orioles have avoided putting Snider in the lineup against left-handers in recent days, MASN Sports reports. Earlier this spring, it appeared the Orioles were set to give Snider full time at-bats in right field. It is unusual that the club would shield a veteran from a certain handed pitcher in spring training rather than find out if Snider has the ability to hit that type of pitcher. The Orioles have flexibility among lightly established players in Steve Pearce, Delmon Young, Alejandro De Aza and Snider, so it is possible Snider yields to the platoon with at-bats going to some combination of the other players. Snider is 9-for-35 with one double this spring, which lands his slugging at just .286.

The Orioles prefer to avoid a platoon in right field and Snider is the top candidate for the every day if the team indeed goes in that direction, MASN Sports reports. This was the assumption when the Orioles dealt two minor leaguers to the Pirates for Snider. Steve Pearce, Delmon Young and Chris Davis are other possibilities, but each of the three could find at-bats elsewhere. Snider will look to build on his reduced strikeout rate (18.7% in 2014, a career best) while providing decent pop and little speed.

Snider was traded to the Orioles on Tuesday in exchange for Stephen Tarpley and a player to be named later, Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan reports. It has been a very bumpy ride for Snider, as he is now on his third team since being a consensus top-10 prospect in baseball prior to the 2009 season. Snider could not be going to a better situation, since the Orioles were planning on giving a lot of at-bats to Alejandro De Aza, Steve Pearce and Delmon Young, so if he performs, he should be able to get a few starts each week. He hit 13 home runs with a .264/.338/.438 slash line in 359 plate appearances last season for the Pirates, so there could be some value here in deeper leagues.

Snider agreed to a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Pirates on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Gregory Polanco's struggles afforded Snider a chance at regular playing time late in the year and into the postseason, and the former first-round pick (14th overall in 2006) answered the call with a .880 OPS in the second half. Despite the strong showing from Snider, Pirates GM Neal Huntington said in December that right field is "probably Polanco's job to keep," meaning Snider will likely open the year in a reserve role.

The Pirates tendered Snider (second-year arbitration eligible) a contract prior to Tuesday's deadline. Snider took over for Gregory Polanco in right field during the stretch drive in 2014 after Polanco faltered. From June 6 to season's end, Snider hit .298/.362/.514 with 10 homers and 26 RBI -- the first time he's sustained success for more than a short period of time. With Andrew McCutchen in center field and Starling Marte in left, Snider will once again battle Polanco for playing time in right field in 2015.

Snider went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Cincinnati on Friday. Prior to Friday, Snider held a .319/.418/.596 line in 55 plate appearances since Sept. 10. He's playing so well for Pittsburgh that the organization might have a difficult time starting super-prospect Gregory Polanco over Snider in 2015.

Snider went 1-for-3 with his 12th homer Tuesday in Atlanta. The start was Snider's sixth straight in the Pittsburgh outfield, as it appears he's past his recent hamstring injury. Snider will likely get the nod again Wednesday, seeing as though he's 2-for-5 with two doubles and a walk against starter Julio Teheran.

Snider will start in right field and bat eighth Tuesday despite lefty Alex Wood pitching for the Braves. Snider is batting just .227 (10-for-44) in September but has two hits, including a double, against Wood. The fact that Snider is starting over the right-handed Jose Tabata shows the faith Pittsburgh has in Snider -- or perhaps the lack of faith in Tabata.

Snider is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune reports. It's likely just a regular day off for Snider, who has started the past six games after dealing with a hamstring injury. Gregory Polanco will assume right field duties in his place.
