The right-hander has been tagged for eight runs and has given up 11 hits and three walks over those outings, while failing to get out of the second inning on either occasion. With the Giants in need of clearing out spots for Matt Cain (forearm) and Jake Peavy (back), both of whom are scheduled to return this week, Lincecum will head to the DL for the first time in his career. Assuming they still have five healthy starters on hand after the All-Star break, it's possible the Giants will use Lincecum in a relief role during the second half.

Lincecum had struggled through 1.2 innings of work, allowing three earned runs before a DJ LeMahieu line drive hit him directly on the pitching arm. He immediately left the game after being hit. More information on Lincecum's prognosis should be made available following Saturday's game.

Lincecum was shelled by the Dodgers on Sunday, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk through just 1.1 innings. The veteran ran into trouble in the second inning when he allowed five men to reach base and allowed four runs before he was yanked. Lincecum has been solid on the whole, as his ERA sits at 3.86 despite this poor outing, and will look to bounce back Saturday against the Rockies.

Lincecum only lasted 5.2 innings against the Mariners on Tuesday, but he pitched well enough to get the win, giving up two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three. Despite having a woeful 57:35 K:BB ratio in 73.1 innings, Lincecum has somehow managed a 3.31 ERA and he was able to notch his seventh win of the season Tuesday. His 1.35 WHIP, 4.08 FIP and 4.37 xFIP suggest he has not been as good as his ERA indicates, so while he is undoubtedly useful in deeper leagues, owners should expect some regression going forward.

Lincecum lasted 4.2 innings, giving up three runs -- two earned -- on four hits and three walks while striking out five against the Mets on Thursday. Looking to win his seventh straight decision against New York, Lincecum was lifted after only 4.2 innings. He threw 102 pitches (58 for strikes) and somehow managed to keep the Mets hitless until Travis d'Arnaud blooped an RBI double with two outs in the fourth. Lincecum holds a steady 3.33 ERA for the season, and he'll look to bounce back in his next start Tuesday against the Mariners.
