Lincecum (forearm) was placed on the 15-day DL Thursday. Lincecum suffered a forearm contusion when he was struck by a line drive in Saturday's game, and as expected, the ailment will land the right-hander on the disabled list. Even though the tightness isn't considered overly serious, the Giants needed the roster spot to activate Matt Cain (forearm) for Thursday's start, as manager Bruce Bochy called this move a "no-brainer."

Lincecum (arm) will be placed on the disabled list Thursday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Lincecum began feeling tightness in his arm over the weekend, so it appears the Giants will not take any chances and allow him to hit the DL and take some time off prior to the All-Star break. His placement Thursday coincides with the return of Matt Cain, who is slated to be activated from the disabled list. The Giants will have to clear another roster spot Friday, however, when Jake Peavy is expected to come off the disabled list.

Lincecum indicated Sunday that his arm felt a little "tight" a day after it was on the receiving end of a line drive, but noted that he was experiencing now obvious swelling, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Even so, manager Bruce Bochy hinted that Lincecum would likely be ticketed for the disabled list. "Timmy, like all those guys, is not going to want it, but it's a no-brainer," manager Bruce Bochy said in reference to a DL stint for Lincecum. Lincecum's likely DL stint may have more to do with his stark decline in performance his last two games rather than as a result of any real injury. The right-hander has been tagged for eight runs and has given up 11 hits and three walks over those outings, while failing to get out of the second inning on either occasion. With the Giants in need of clearing out spots for Matt Cain (forearm) and Jake Peavy (back), both of whom are scheduled to return this week, Lincecum will head to the DL for the first time in his career. Assuming they still have five healthy starters on hand after the All-Star break, it's possible the Giants will use Lincecum in a relief role during the second half.

Lincecum's (arm) X-rays returned negative Saturday, confirming the injury is just a contusion, but manager Bruce Bochy indicated he could miss some time since the ball was lined off his pitching arm, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports. Lincecum was struck by a DJ LeMahieu line drive, forcing him to exit Saturday's game after just 1.2 innings of work. While it's good news that the injury is just a contusion, it may not prevent him from missing a start. He didn't discuss the possibility of a stint on the disabled list at this point, but it seems like that could be in play if more than one start will be missed because of the issue.

Lincecum left the game with what the Giants announced as a right forearm contusion, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports. Lincecum was hit on his pitching arm by a DJ LeMahieu liner early in Saturday's game. There's no word yet on how much time Lincecum will miss as a result of Saturday's injury, but it's a positive that he only suffered a contusion rather than a more serious injury.

Lincecum (elbow) exited Saturday's game after being struck on the pitching arm by a line drive, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports. Lincecum had struggled through 1.2 innings of work, allowing three earned runs before a DJ LeMahieu line drive hit him directly on the pitching arm. He immediately left the game after being hit. More information on Lincecum's prognosis should be made available following Saturday's game.

Lincecum was shelled by the Dodgers on Sunday, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk through just 1.1 innings. The veteran ran into trouble in the second inning when he allowed five men to reach base and allowed four runs before he was yanked. Lincecum has been solid on the whole, as his ERA sits at 3.86 despite this poor outing, and will look to bounce back Saturday against the Rockies.

Lincecum only lasted 5.2 innings against the Mariners on Tuesday, but he pitched well enough to get the win, giving up two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three. Despite having a woeful 57:35 K:BB ratio in 73.1 innings, Lincecum has somehow managed a 3.31 ERA and he was able to notch his seventh win of the season Tuesday. His 1.35 WHIP, 4.08 FIP and 4.37 xFIP suggest he has not been as good as his ERA indicates, so while he is undoubtedly useful in deeper leagues, owners should expect some regression going forward.

Lincecum lasted 4.2 innings, giving up three runs -- two earned -- on four hits and three walks while striking out five against the Mets on Thursday. Looking to win his seventh straight decision against New York, Lincecum was lifted after only 4.2 innings. He threw 102 pitches (58 for strikes) and somehow managed to keep the Mets hitless until Travis d'Arnaud blooped an RBI double with two outs in the fourth. Lincecum holds a steady 3.33 ERA for the season, and he'll look to bounce back in his next start Tuesday against the Mariners.

Lincecum labored a bit through six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, walking two and striking out four, but came away with a 5-4 victory against the Phillies. He threw 94 pitches (61 for strikes) and allowed a pair of home runs but kept his team in the game and was rewarded with a win. Lincecum (6-3, 3.29 ERA) has been fairly steady all season as he makes the adjustment to more of a finesse pitcher, but he is clearly not the same pitcher who won two Cy Young awards with dominating stuff.
