Drew (abdominal strain) played catch Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has been running for a week or so, and this served as another benchmark in his recovery. Look for him to be activated from the DL either this week or next week.

Drew was placed on the 10-day DL on Saturday with a left abdominal strain, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Recent trade acquisition Howie Kendrick was activated to take Drew's spot on the active roster. Drew has provided some value in the field while serving in a bench role, but he's struggled at the plate to the tune of a .253/.302/.358 line. His opportunities figure to remain limited upon his return.

Drew is slashing .140/.213/.186 with 11 strikeouts in his last 47 plate appearances.
EDGE Analysis
Drew sees fairly regular playing time with Trea Turner (wrist) still out indefinitely, but is becoming harder to justify as a platoon option. The 34-year-old has a .244/.290/.356 slash line in 90 at-bats against right-handed pitching, and could see fewer opportunities with utility-man Wilmer Difo hitting extremely well in July.

Drew is out of the lineup Monday against the Mets, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Drew finds himself on the bench for the second straight game, though his absence Monday is less surprising with a left-hander (Steven Matz) toeing the rubber for the opposition. It's still expected that Drew will see most of the starts at shortstop against right-handers while Trea Turner (wrist) is sidelined, with Wilmer Difo, who starts Monday, receiving the nods against southpaws.

Drew got the start at third base in place of Anthony Rendon (neck) on Tuesday and went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI in a 12-3 rout of the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old continues to produce when called upon, and Drew now sports an .873 OPS with a homer and 12 RBI in 22 games on the year. Barring a serious injury to one of the Nats' starting infielders, however, his value will be limited to deep NL-only season-long formats and as an occasional DFS play in a favorable matchup.

Drew smacked a home run and finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk Thursday against the Orioles in the Nationals' 6-1 victory.
EDGE Analysis
After missing about six weeks with a hamstring injury, Drew has not played consistently since mid-April. However, Thursday night's outburst could perhaps be a sign of him getting back to normal. Still, the Nationals will continue to be cautious with Drew and his injury, meaning he may not be the best fantasy option right now, especially since he's not expected to jump into an everyday role any time soon.

Drew (hamstring) was activated from the disabled list Monday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Drew is finally ready to rejoin the big club after a lengthy absence due to a hamstring ailment. The 34-year-old compiled a .222/.250/.278 triple slash across eight games before hitting the disabled list. He should resume his role as a reserve infielder for the Nats.

Drew (hamstring) will head to West Palm Beach to begin a rehab assignment, Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Drew, who has been sidelined since mid-April with a hamstring ailment, finally seems to be nearing a return to action. It's unclear how long he will need to spend on the rehab assignment, though it will likely be a while given the length of his absence. A clearer timetable for his return should become available as he continues to progress in his recovery.

Drew (hamstring) was able to do some light jogging in the outfield Monday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Drew wasn't running at full speed, but it's at least a sign he's getting healthier after the Nationals had restricted him from doing any sort of running since he first suffered the hamstring injury. The veteran infielder will likely gradually raise the intensity of his workouts in the coming days before heading out on a rehab assignment soon thereafter.

Tue 5/2/17 6:03 PM

Drew (hamstring) is expected to head out on a rehab assignment before returning to the Nationals, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Drew was seen taking batting practice and fielding grounders Tuesday, so it appears he's nearing a return to game action. With starting shortstop Trea Turner back from the disabled list himself, Drew doesn't appear to have a clear path to regular at-bats once he's eventually activated from the DL. More should be known about a possible return date once Drew is sent out on his rehab assignment.
