Shaun Marcum was knocked around again in the Mets' loss on Saturday night to the Brewers, allowing five earned runs on 11 hits over five innings. The Brewers scored in each of the first four frames before Marcum finally worked a clean fifth. He now sits at 1-10 on the season with a horrendous 5.29 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. It's uncertain how much longer the Mets will settle for this type of poor performance. Provided he does remain in the rotation for another turn, Marcum will finish up his first half against the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Friday.

Shaun Marcum (back) is expected to make his next start, this Saturday against the Brewers. Marcum underwent an MRI earlier this week on his sore upper back and it showed no major structural damage. The right-hander has a 5.03 ERA in 73 1/3 innings this season and needs to be avoided in fantasy leagues no matter how healthy the Mets claim him to be.

Shaun Marcum received an MRI on his upper back Tuesday. The results of the exam are not yet known, but his scheduled start on Saturday is up in the air. The Mets should provide an update on Marcum's status Wednesday. If he can't go, Carlos Torres appears likely for a spot start.

Shaun Marcum will not be placed on the disabled list. An earlier report stated that an undisclosed injury could send Marcum to the DL to make room for Gonzalez Germen, but that won't happen. It appears that the right-hander remains in line to start on Saturday.

Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that Shaun Marcum might be headed to the disabled list. The Mets are "pondering" the move, a source told Puma, without revealing the exact nature of Marcum's injury. Marcum has a 5.03 ERA in 73 1/3 innings this season. Carlos Torres would likely move into the rotation.

Shaun Marcum went eight scoreless innings to get his first win of the season, as the Mets blanked the White Sox 3-0 on Wednesday. Marcum had previously been 0-9 in nine starts this year heading into the game, but the right-hander took matters into his own hands on Wednesday. Marcum allowed just four hits and two walks in his eight innings of work, striking out two. He'll try to make it two in a row against the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Shaun Marcum fell to 0-9 as he allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Braves on Wednesday. Marcum hasn't been as awful as his record would indicate, but he's now turned in two subpar starts in a row that have seen his ERA balloon from 4.96 to 5.76. Marcum's control failed him on Wednesday, as he walked a season-high four batters to go along with six hits allowed. At this point, it's not hard to see Marcum being the odd man out when Zack Wheeler arrives in New York for good.

Mets manager Terry Collins suggested Friday that Shaun Marcum's rotation spot could be in jeopardy. "When it comes down to the time to make the decision, certainly I'm not sure salary is going to have anything to do with it," Collins said. "I think we're going to take the five guys that we need to make sure are the best to go out there." The Mets will likely move one of Marcum, Jeremy Hefner or Dillon Gee to the bullpen when Zack Wheeler is promoted on Tuesday.

Shaun Marcum was tagged for six runs in 5 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Cubs. Marcum gave up five runs over the first two innings before settling down, but he simply dug himself too big of a hole. The veteran right-hander struck out four and walked one in the loss and now stands at 0-8 with a 5.43 ERA on the year. He'll try again for first his first win next week against the Braves.
