Porcello was named the starter for Saturday's exhibition matchup with the Yankees, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander has a stable spot in the rotation and will take the mound for the Mets' first exhibition contest. Porcello won the AL Cy Young in 2016 but has a 4.79 ERA over the past three seasons, including a career-worst 5.52 ERA in 2019. He'll look to become his former self for this season after a strong showing in spring with three runs allowed over 10.2 innings.

Porcello seems assured of a spot in the Mets' rotation with Noah Syndergaard lost for the season due to Tommy John surgery.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was competing with Steven Matz and Michael Wacha for the final two slots, but all three should now begin the season in the rotation. For his part, Porcello was not likely to be the odd man out anyway after posting a 2.53 ERA and 8:1 K:BB through 10.2 innings this spring.

Porcello gave up two hits and a walk over three scoreless innings while striking out four in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander has looked good through the early part of the spring, posting a 1.50 ERA and 7:1 K:BB through his first six innings. Despite his rough 2019 campaign with the Red Sox, Porcello remains a favorite to break camp in one of the final two spots in the Mets' rotation.

Porcello gave up a run on two hits and two stolen bases while striking out one in an inning of work Saturday against the Marlins, Mike Puma of The New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander fit right in with his new club in his first Grapefruit League action -- the Mets led all of MLB in steals allowed at 139 last season, 40 more than the second-place Angels. "I saw it today, the running game, they don't really steal bases that much in the American League and you get out there and first pitch with a runner on first and he's gone," Porcello said after the game. "I will start paying attention to that more and be prepared for a little bit of change in the style of play, but the main focus is building that foundation with that delivery and go from there." He threw only 17 pitches and felt like he could have worked another inning, but the Mets elected to hold him back this early in camp. Despite signing a one-year, $10 million contract in the offseason, Porcello isn't necessarily guaranteed one of the final spots in the rotation, but he headed into the spring with a leg up on Michael Wacha for a starting role.

Porcello signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Mets on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old joins a crowded rotation for the Mets, but Porcello and newly acquired Michael Wacha could help fill the void left by Zack Wheeler's departure. Porcello struggled in 2019, posting a 5.53 ERA with just 143 strikeouts over 174.1 innings.

Porcello (14-12) picked up the win in Wednesday's 10-3 rout of the Rangers, giving up three runs on six hits over six innings while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
It was his second straight quality start and 13th of the season, and while he finished strong, Porcello wraps up 2019 with a career-worst 5.52 ERA and a 143:45 K:BB through 174.1 innings. A free agent in the offseason, the 30-year-old could well find himself in a different uniform next year.

Porcello allowed three hits and struck out six over six scoreless innings Friday against the Rays. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Porcello was sharp in this one, but after the Red Sox struck for two runs in the seventh inning, the Rays would answer with two runs of their own, resulting in a no-decision. The 30-year-old right-hander has been solid over his last two outings, giving up just two runs while fanning 13 over 11 innings of work.

Porcello (13-12) allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts across five innings while earning a victory against the Phillies on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old did allow another homer, but he broke his two-game streak of yielding at least six runs. Finishing on a high note such as this is about the best Porcello owners can hope for at this point, though, because it's been a very disappointing year. Behind a 1.7 HR/9, which is tied for the highest in his career, and 2.5 BB/9, his highest mark since his rookie season, Porcello has a 5.77 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 129 strikeouts in 162.1 innings this year. His next start is scheduled for Friday at the Rays.

Porcello (12-12) gave up six runs in four innings against the Yankees on Sunday, allowing seven hits and striking out one batter.
EDGE Analysis
For the second consecutive outing, Porcello lasted only four innings and yielded six runs. As in his previous start -- a loss to Minnesota on Tuesday -- he surrendered a pair of homers, with Sunday's long balls accounting for four of the runs scored against him. With the loss, the 30-year-old evened his record at 12-12 while raising his ERA to an unsightly 5.83. He'll try to get back into the win column when he heads to Philadelphia on Saturday to make his next scheduled start.

Porcello (12-11) allowed six earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Porcello surrendered two long balls, accounting for half of his earned runs. However, he also allowed a couple big rallies, surrendering two earned runs in the first inning after both walking and hitting a batter with a pitch. Similarly, he let the Twins put together three hits -- a single, double and triple -- in the third frame, with two runs crossing the plate as a result. Porcello had gotten improved results in his last three starts, allowing just six earned runs across 16 innings. Despite that decent stretch, his ERA for the season now sits at 5.63 to go along with a 1.44 WHIP across 153.1 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, currently scheduled for Sunday against the Yankees.
