Philip Humber blanked the Nationals for four innings in the Astros' 4-2 victory Thursday. He allowed one hit, walked one and struck out one. Humber was a pretty good bet to crack the Astros' rotation even before his strong start to the spring. He's allowed two runs in nine innings.

Philip Humber allowed one run in three innings and struck out three versus the Braves on Saturday. A Freddie Freeman homer accounted for the damage. Humber has allowed two runs in five innings this spring as he attempts to secure a spot in Houston's rotation. He'll probably get one of the openings.

Astros avoided arbitration with RHP Philip Humber by signing him to a one-year contract. The deal also includes a club option for 2014, though the financial particulars aren't known. Humber was claimed off waivers from the White Sox Friday and has a good shot to crack the Astros' Opening Day rotation next season. He posted a disappointing 6.44 ERA and 85/44 K/BB ratio over 102 innings this past season.

Astros claimed RHP Philip Humber off waivers from the White Sox. Humber was a non-tender candidate after posting a 6.44 ERA and 85/44 K/BB ratio over 102 innings this past season. The 29-year-old right-hander projects to make a little over $1 million in his first year of arbitration, so he could eat some innings on the cheap for the rebuilding 'Stros.

Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times thinks there's a "good chance" Philip Humber is non-tendered. He also believes that Dan Johnson will be non-tendered, but Gordon Beckham and Alejandro De Aza will be offered contracts. Humber tossed a perfect game in 2012 and has pitched well at times for the White Sox over the last two years, but the Sox have rotation depth and can't really justify giving him a raise after he posted a 6.44 ERA this past season.

Manager Robin Ventura confirmed Monday that Phil Humber will be moved to the bullpen. The White Sox experimented with a six-man rotation, but the writing was on the wall for Humber, who's struggled since his perfect game earlier in the season. It's also a sign that Chris Sale will be cleared to pitch on regular rest moving forward. Humber has 26 career relief appearances, including two last year with Chicago.

Philip Humber got lit up by the Tigers in Sunday's loss, allowing six runs on seven hits - four of which left the ballpark - in just three innings of work. He struck out zero and walked one. Humber silenced the Red Sox in Fenway Park last Tuesday, but reverted to his pre-injury form this afternoon. Now the owner of a 6.25 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 66/32 K/BB ratio through 76 1/3 frames, Humber's rotation spot remains on thin ice.

Phil Humber pitched well in Tuesday's win over the Red Sox, allowing two runs on six hits over six strong innings. He displayed much-improved control, walking none while punching out three. After allowing both runs in the first inning on a pair of RBI singles from Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez, Humber settled in nicely and shut the Red Sox down over the next five frames. He'll take a 4-4 record and 5.77 ERA into his next start at Detroit.

White Sox activated RHP Philip Humber from the 15-day disabled list. Humber will return to face the Red Sox on Tuesday night. The 29-year-old right-hander has been sidelined for a little under a month with a flexor strain in his right elbow. He returns to an ugly 6.01 ERA through 12 starts this season and can be avoided outside of AL-only fantasy leagues.
