The month of August is treating the well-aged speedster favorably, as he's hitting at a solid .282 clip with four steals and 12 runs; the latter two stats represent his best monthly totals of the season. A three-time 40-steal man in his heyday, Bourn's only good for the occasional swipe at this point, and that in combination with his eternal lack of power marginalizes his fantasy value outside very deep or NL-only formats.

Bourn is out of the lineup Saturday in San Diego.

To nobody's surprise, except perhaps the Diamondbacks, Bourn is not hitting lately, slashing .231/.306/.338 with four steals on six attempts in August. The speed keeps him useful in deeper leagues, but he may start losing out on more playing time if his bat doesn't heat up. Mitch Haniger will start in center field and hit seventh Saturday.

Bourn went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.

EDGE Analysis

Bourn did all the damage for the Diamondbacks in a 16-2 loss, and he was the only Arizona player with more than one hit. Bourn had been slumping a bit, but he now has back-to-back multi-hit performances, and four in his last five games. He's not the fantasy asset he once was, but Bourn is receiving regular playing time, and he may be worth a look in daily leagues as long as he remains hot.

Bourn went 1-for-5 with a triple and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Mets. He also stole a base.

EDGE Analysis

The two-run triple in the seventh inning was the difference in the game, but Bourn's other four at-bats were more indicative of his recent struggles. Over the last 30 days, he is batting just .218/.256/.303. Bourn did record a steal Tuesday, but he doesn't run nearly as much as he used to, which greatly reduces his fantasy appeal.

Bourn is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

EDGE Analysis

Chris Owings will take over in center with the Dodgers starting lefty Scott Kazmir, pushing Bourn to the bench following five straight starts (all against right-handers). Bourn is hitting for a lackluster .264/.272/.341 line this month but it doesn't seem manager Chip Hale has any intention of reducing Bourn's role in the immediate future.

Bourn will lead off for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis

Bourn has spent most of the season hitting in the second spot for Arizona. However, with Jake Lamb day-to-day, the Diamondbacks have moved Jean Segura to the third spot, which bumped Bourn to the top. Bourn will face off against Matt Garza on Tuesday. Bourn has owned Garza in his career, hitting .476 in 21 at-bats against the right-hander.

Bourn is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds.

With southpaw Brandon Finnegan on the mound for the opposing Reds, manager Chip Hall will rest all of his left-handed bats, including Bourn. The recently reinstated Chris Owings will get the start in center field in his place.

Bourn had a nice weekend series against the Dodgers, going 6-for-14 (.429 average) with four runs and three RBI. He's getting regular playing time in center and often batting second in front of Paul Goldschmidt, which results in plenty of good pitches to hit.

The veteran took Rockies reliever Justin Miller deep in the seventh for only his second homer of 2016, plating Jean Segura in the process. It was the 33-year-old's second consecutive multi-hit effort, and the three RBI brought his June total to nine. Despite the recent success, Bourn has largely struggled in June, particularly when compared to the .343/.425/.457 line he generated in May. Those numbers have dropped to .208/.312/.565, respectively, in the current month, but Bourn still provides some decent fantasy potential given his typical spot near the top of the lineup.

Bourn is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's tilt with Colorado.

Bourn is getting a maintenance day as the D-backs are electing to with Brito Socrates in center field. Bourn has hit a rough patch in his season, recording only one multi-hit game in his last 23 while slashing .173/.222/.227. He's struck out 27 times during that span.
