Bourn (broken finger) won't be ready for MLB action until mid-April, the Baltimore Sun reports.

With Baltimore currently planning on starting Hyun-Soo Kim and Seth Smith in the corner outfield spots in 2017, they will be able to use Bourn well as a defensive replacement and fourth outfielder off the bench.

Bourn had reached base in his last six plate appearances heading into Sunday's game. He started the last four games of the season and the Orioles figure to play the matchups as postseason play begins. Bourn slashed a solid .283/.358/.435 after being acquired by Baltimore on September 1.

Bourn went 2-for-2 with a two-RBI single and two walks in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Yankees.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran outfielder opened the scoring with a timely two-run single in the second that plated Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo and got on base three more times in the loss as well. Bourn has back-to-back two-hit outings and has slashed .310/.388/.476 in 23 games since joining the Orioles.

Bourn started Wednesday for the first time for the Orioles and went 1-for-4 with a solo home run.

EDGE Analysis

It is a bit of a surprise it took a week for Bourn to get into the lineup. The presence of Steve Pearce, Hyun Soo Kim and Drew Stubbs on the roster could mean that Bourn falls into the situational role in which he has served so far. The injury to Chris Davis put Pearce at first base and may have opened the door for Bourn to play in left field, though Davis is expected to return Friday.

Bourn was traded to the Orioles for a minor league prospect on Wednesday.

Bourn is at least making the case for a regular role, as he's gone 17-for-54 (.315) with 10 runs over the last two weeks.

Bourn is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.

EDGE Analysis

The two-time All-Star has picked it up offensively of late, and while A.J. Pollock (elbow) is now back as the primary center fielder, Bourn will likely remain involved with a couple starts per week. Pollock is expected to be eased back into regular duty, starting two out of every three games for the time being.
