Manager Fredi Gonzalez said he intends to have Bourn on the 25-man roster due to his leadership qualities, although no jobs are simply being handed out, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a fair amount of regression over the past few seasons, some questions were raised with what kind of role he would play on the Braves this season, although it appears that manager Fredi Gonzalez values his presence even if he isn't performing. While Gonzalez made it clear that he isn't simply handing a roster spot to the veteran outfielder, it's nice to know that even if he isn't given a starting role, there's a good chance that he'll stick around the major league club a little while longer.

Bourn singled three times, tripled, drove in two runs and scored two runs against the Phillies on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
He'd been absolutely horrible since rejoining the Braves, hitting .138/.240/.154 in 65 at-bats, but Bourn finally broke out in this one. Still, Bourn has not aged gracefully, and games like this are much more likely to be the exception than the rule.

Bourn is out of the lineup Friday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran Bourn continues to receive days off, suggesting he may not necessarily be considered the team's everyday left fielder. Nick Swisher will receive the start in left field Friday, batting cleanup for the Braves.

Bourn is out of the lineup Saturday in Pittsburgh. After serving a one-game suspension, Bourn extended his hitting streak to three games, during which he's hit .454 (5-for-11) with three RBI. He'll hand over center field to Michael Brantley, while Mike Aviles takes over left.

Bourn will serve a one-game suspension Thursday, Nick Camino of WTAM 1100 reports. Bourn will take a seat as a result of an incident with an umpire weeks ago that led to a fine and ejection from the contest. With the regular center fielder out of the fold, look for Michael Brantley to slide to center with the likes of Mike Aviles taking over in left. Bourn should return to action for Friday's series opener against the Pirates.

Bourn is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles, Paul Hoynes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group reports. Bourn's absence is likely related to the left-handed Wei-Yin Chen on the mound for the Orioles. The veteran center fielder has struggled at the dish this season, batting just .234 with no home runs, 14 RBI, 21 runs and only three stolen bases. Michael Brantley will start in center field in his place, while Mike Aviles will enter in left field.

Bourn has been suspended one game for making contact with an umpire during Tuesday's game. Bourn will appeal the suspension and will play Thursday. With Bourn set to appeal the ban, he'll remain in the lineup Thursday, but he should be considered day-to-day beyond that until Major League Baseball announces a decision with regard to his appeal.

Bourn is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mariners, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. Bourn will be held out of the starting lineup for the second time in the last three games, with both rest days coming when a left-hander has taken the hill for the opposing team. Manager Terry Francona will use an outfield composed of Ryan Raburn (left), Michael Brantley (center) and Brandon Moss (right) for the Thursday afternoon contest.
